(S01E05) Boy oh boy, do I love adultery! Let's be honest, we don't want to see shows about things deemed acceptable by society. We want to see buildings collapse, surgeries go wrong, and adultery!
In last night's season finale, we go plenty of it. At least we thought we did. I've got to hand it to the writer's because they tied this one up very nicely, but it still left us hanging. Enough that I'm hoping we see the show come back for a full season next year.
A large portion of the show focused on Dave and his continuing dislike with this whole "open marriage" he reluctantly agreed to with his wife Deena. In part because she seems to be cashing in on the idea while he's not into it at all. When the guys take off for a golf trip, Dave spills the story to them and even shows them the video of Deena and Richard fighting at the party from last week.
Adam isn't much help because he points out to Angelo (who apparently has no idea how relationships work in America) that 'round here, when people fight like that it can only be because there's something sexual going on. That's the last thing Dave wanted to hear but remember that line, because it's important later on.
Meanwhile, Marjorie has gone to to see Lisa B. and apologize for the phone message she left Brian the other night. It doesn't help because Lisa B. realizes that there is something between Brian and Marjorie still. So she leaves Brian and once again, it's because Marjorie got in the way.
The guys decide to trail Deena all day to see what she's up to. Angelo and Brian end up bailing because they want a cheeseburger. Deena visits Nic and Marjorie, who's trying on wedding dresses. She lets it slip to them that she's in an open marriage, but Nic calls it like she sees it: it's an affair. Deena has second thoughts but she goes to see Richard anyway. Dave and Adam follow her, only to see Deena enter a hotel room with Richard inside it.
Only problem is that we know something that Dave doesn't. Deena breaks it off. She loves her husband and she can't do this anymore and she tells Richard it has to stop. Dave takes matters into his own hands though. He goes to see Suzanne (from the video game publishing company) and we can only assume they get naked.
See, now at this point, I thought the episode was over. But it wasn't because Brian had to go see Marjorie and give her hell about what she said to Lisa B. Brian doesn't want to keep going through the motions with Marjorie but it seems like she keeps giving him false-hope on purpose. They yell. They argue. And Adam watches it all through a window.
That's the last thing Adam wanted to see. Why? Well, don't forget what he said earlier: when people fight like that it can only be because there's something sexual going on. Something tells me that Adam and Brian aren't going to remain best friends much longer. Now all we have to do is keep our fingers crossed for a second season so we can see what happens next.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this show will be back. Its nice to see a show that doesn't involve reality "actors" or strange circumstances (i.e. Lost). There are actually real life moments in this show and it has me hooked!
