Page Six is reporting (I keep looking at that and still can't believe I typed it) that Star Jones is being shown the door by Barbara Walters and the producers of The View. Jones' departure was apparently one of the conditions of Rosie O'Donnell joining the show, a condition Walters and other knew and agreed to when they were courting O'Donnell. Jones' agents are denying the host is on her way out but others say they're sniffing around for a new home for her. Gayle King, a friend of Oprah Winfrey, is apparently in line to replace Jones on the show. The boisterous Jones has come under some fire recently for a series of disagreements with management over her agreements to pitch products or mention brand names on the show. I have to tell you the absence of Jones on the show would absolutely kill the unintentional comedic possibilities inherent in a pairing of her and O'Donnell. I might have overcome the gag reflex both of these personalities cause individually, much less together, just to see when one would pounce on the other on the air.

It's been reported that Star's contract is up in August and wasn't being renewed. They aren't saying which side made that decision but that it's the end of her contract. I think I heard that on Access or ET or something. They mentioned that Star would be gone before Rosie started.

If Star Jones is being pushed out just so Rosie can sit at the table, then count me out. I have been a faithful viewer of The View since day one and Star Jones and Meredith Viera were a huge part of that. If both Meredith and Star are leaving, I'm going right along with them.

Shucks! Does this mean there will never be a throw down where Rosie confronts Star about her miraculous fat loss or her closeted husband? I was living for that!

The real problem with The View is Barbara Walters. Walters wants to Star but, Walters couldn't even manage to out shine Star Jones. Going by the tabloids, the public is far more interested in Star Jones than it is in Barbara Walters.
I would also point out that Barbara Walters did a fluff piece interview on the broadway play Sunset Boulevard and Walters did not disclose that she was an investor in the play. So, where does Walters stand to complain about Star Jones' mentioning Payless Shoes on The View?
Barbara Walters has been assaulting the tv viewing audience with her butt-ulgy since tv was in Black & White and, Walters is worth less money than Oprah Winfrey. I think THAT tells you all you need to know about how brilliant Walters is at being a television executive.

I can not stand Rosie and wonder what The View is thinking. Do people forget When Rosie left her show and she said in interview after interview how phoney the show had been. Has Barbara not heard how bad Rosie is to staff? I use to love Rosie, then I met her in person and found her to be very rude. I was never a big fan of Star...but Rosie will keep me from ever watching the show again.

Is there a good reason the American public should care one way or the other?

I've never been a Star Jones fan nor am I a Rosie fan. If it's the "lesbian" factor.....get another lesbian...Rosie is a very bad choice in my opinion, although I'm glad they are wising up and looking for a replacement for Star. If I were a black women, I wouldn't want Star Jones representing my point of view. Other than Joy, who adds some humor to the show, The View (in my opinion) could stand replace everyone!

It is too bad that Meridith is leaving & they chose the loud uncouth Rosie to replace her. As for Star -- she has been obnoxious since she got engaged to ??? a wonderful man and took it for granted that all the things she wanted for the wedding was "owed" to her & saw nothing wrong taking all the "gifts". Then with her make over-- she looks very bad -- her eyes pop out & the low necklines to show off her new bust is not what the View is about. Is she goes, and we all know Meridith is going the View will never be the same. The replacements are or will be impossible to fill those seats. ABC should take a good look at them selves and the lack of sense in all the programing or lose the TV audience that kept them on top. (Show the LAST 3 episodes of Commander-will it hurt??)

I feel it will be a refreshing change. I tired so of watching Star become anorexic and her "new attitude" that came along with it. Barbara is an icon, so no comment re: her is needed. Rosie will add a nice comedic effect to an otherwise jumbled mess of women all talking at the same time. Gayle is VERY sane and will add much to the intelligence factor on the show.

Welcome Rosie & Good Bye Star(You will be Missed)
First I was excited that Rosie was coming to the view...I was disappointed that Star Jones wasn't going to be staying...I thought the both of them together would have been fun...
I'm not sure why they would want to send Star Jones down the road, except besides she does look sick...But hey if she feels better than how can we judge her....

Oh I like Star. She's a trip. Love Gayle King and she should have been number 1 choice. ROSIE O'DONNELL IS A POWER HOG. SHE THINKS SHE'S ALL THAT AND A BIG BAG OF CHIPS. I find Rosie to full of herself. I will not be VIEWING THE VIEW ANYMORE!
