So you saw him at the White House Correspondents Dinner, watched the clips on YouTube and GoogleVideo, and talked about it ad nauseam on this very site and various other blogs and messageboards. Of course, I'm talking about Kenneth T. Walsh, chief correspondent for US News and World Report. Seriously, who let that guy speak, anyway? Don't they have some kind of screening process for these kind of events?
Yeah, okay, I'm actually talking about Stephen Colbert, who was either very funny or very not funny, depending on, well, whether you thought he was funny or not. Anyway, several blogs have been reporting that the DVD of the event is now available on the CSPAN Web site. Of course, you can also just watch the event on GoogleVideo, too, but you don't get the joy of loading a disc into something, which is really what life is all about.

That DVD is meant for Colbert family, friends, stalkers, and the nuttiest of the nuttiest Daily Kos posters.
I'm sorry. I don't like the type of humor Stewart and Colbert do. They act sarcastic and bash Republicans, but when challenged they say, "I am just a comedian." It is so annoying.
Bill Maher doesn't have to use that dumb defense mechanism and still can be entertaining. That humor and irrelevant humor of Family Guy on TV are so old. End it please. Colbert's routine was a dud. Stewart pulls 1.1 million people a night, so he isn't a deity.

Brent, I respect your view that you don't find them funny, but would contend that Stewart and Colbert do not exclusively mock Republicans. The lead-up to the 2004 Democratic National Convention - titled "Race From The White House" - included so much Democrat-bashing that I find it hard to believe they can be attacked on partisan lines. Likewise the even-handed satire/surrealism that is Colbert's 'Better Know A District' segment.
One of the best things about TDS and TCR is that they attack the Republicans for any failings in governing, and they attack the Democrats for failing to be effective or constructive in opposition. Both sides are the targets of equal opprobrium and, more often the not, the television and print media are attacked more than the political parties themselves.
When challenged, Stewart in particular points out that he is first and foremost a comedian, but also that (a) if there was no such ridiculous behavior in government or opposition then he would be out of a job, and (b) it is a sad day when people are annoyed at a comedy show for pointing out examples of spin or duplicity or incompetence, especially when the real news networks seem to be content merely to rephrase press releases.
Obviously, those who support President Bush will not like their leader being mocked, whereas those who oppose him will enjoy the moment. I personally think that releasing a DVD is a few steps too far, but I'm sure some people will buy it. Most importantly, Stewart and Colbert's aim is humor; after all, they are self-proclaimed 'fake news' shows on a comedy network, not a serious news network.
Perhaps people on both sides of the aisle should lighten up a bit and remember that these are, after all, just jokes.
