I have a job for you. I know
that it's Sunday, and you're probably sitting in your pajamas watching the hilarious antics of Meet the Press,
and I know you're tired after Adam asked you
to count all of the remotes on Saturday (I have about 10 in total). However, this is important. I want you to
count the number of televisions in your house, apartment, or yurt.
Personally, we have four televisions at Keller Steading; one in the family room, one in the playroom, one in our bedroom and one in the room that used be my home office but has now become my (soon to be) three-year-old daughter's room. This was to avoid any murder between her and my 5-year-old daughter, whom she previously shared a room with.
The TV's in the family room and the playroom get used fairly frequently, although the one in the playroom is used mostly to play DVD's and videos of The Wiggles and Lazytown for the kids. The bedroom TV used to be run frequently until our twins were born last month. The least used television was the one in my home office, which was used on occasion to watch DVD's and play video games.
Add to that my desktop and laptop computers, which can be used to play DVD's and downloadable television shows from places like iTunes, and I have a total of six 'television screens' in total. This is coming from a person who had two televisions in his house when he was growing up: the big floor model that only had 13 channels and the black-and-white portable with the rabbit ears that was used when a storm hit and the cable went out.
So, how many televisions do you have, and do you think that it's too many? Include your computer monitors and laptops if you use them to view DVD's or downloaded television shows. Go ahead, I'll wait.

3 in use, and I think theres another somewhere thats not used.
Whats more numerous is to count all the things that play DVDs, and yet everyone still wants DVD playback in the next generation of consoles. In our house theres 8 things that can play DVDs. And I think im the only one to ever watch DVDs.

remotes: 11, 1 for each tv, 1 for the air conditioner, 1 for the heater, 1 for dvd and 1 for vcr

1. 61" HD DLP in Den
2. 30" HD CRT in Bedroom
3. 26" HD LCD in Office/Home Gym
4. 36" CRT in Loft
5. 27" CRT in Tenant #1's Room
6. 20" CRT in Tenant #2's Room
Yikes, that is a lot of tvs. I am not going to count all those remotes. We also have 2 dual tuner tivos and a standalone series 1 tivo for when you ask us to count those too. and we have 4 dvd player too.

I live with my parents, just as a note:
1 TV in my room, plus the computer
1 TV in my parents' room
1 TV in the living room
1 TV in the kitchen
My parents also have a good computer, but they haven't discovered watching TV on it yet. And the TV in the kitchen is the oldest, a small B&W that they've had since I was little.
Hmmm... there's also a monitor in the backyard that we sometimes attach video games too. It took the place of an older SONY that belonged to my parents until they replaced it with a new Apex.

9 TV's total
2 in My room, 1 TV and 1 computer
2 in 2nd roommates room, 1 TV and 1 computer
2 in 3nd roommates room, 1 TV and 1 computer
1 in living room
1 in kitchen
1 in the garage not in use, roommates girlfriend moved in.
After doing this I think with computers counted it seems like there is an excess of TV's here.

great... i didn't want to be first ('cause i always feel self conscious)... i remember almost 30 years ago when i was a summer intern at a large corp, making fun (i was young and stupid) of one of the older married guys who "only" had one tv... these days when i have my annual oscar® party i can honestly promise a tv in every room (yes, -every- room)
ok... here goes (proper tv's):
living room - 2
kitchen - 1
office - 1
bedroom - 1
bathroom - 1
monitors (connected to 'puters which are used to play dvd's or divx files):
living room - 1
kitchen - 1
office - 1
laptop - 1
total screens: 10
spending time in the sun: priceless

It's sad, but I live alone and I have three TVs. Four if you count the tuner card in my PC...
The only rooms in my apartment that don't have TVs are the two bathrooms, and I guess I could probably do something with mirrors to fix that.
Having said all that, I think I need to seek some serious help.
