(S01E10) I really wanted to like this show, but I just don't. I'm going to finish out the season (please, God make it end soon) and then it's being deleted from my TiVo Season Pass. I don't like it because of the multiple storylines in each episode. It goes from story to story so quickly that I still don't feel invested in any of the characters. Plus, it's hard to follow the stories when they're so fragmented and there are so many of them.Anyway, this week starred Reiko Aylesworth (24, SVU) as a psycho-crazy woman who killed her own husband and then decided to defend herself. I wish this would have been the only storyline because it really had potential. Her character, Julie Phelps, went to the press claiming that ADA James Steele propositioned her during a pre-trial meeting. She badgered her youngest son when he was on the witness stand. She hired a P.I. to take photos of Steele kissing fellow ADA Jessica Rossi (why would any newspaper even print that?). And then she blames her son for the murder? E-vil. What I don't understand is how the jury came to a guilty verdict. The mother blamed her oldest son for the murder and then nothing was ever said about it again. How did Finn's closing statement erase that fact?
And I am totally pissed off about the promos for this week's show. They said that the whole team would have to come together to win this case. Huh? Only two people worked the Julie Phelps case. Was NBC playing the wrong promos all week? WTF?
Once again, Jessica Rossi is prosecuting a rape case. The defending attorney is a drunk but DDA Alexandra Cabot insists Rossi continue to prosecute because the attorney is an old friend of the office. What the heck happened to Cabot's character? I really used to like her on SVU when she had morals and... ahem... conviction. Now she's just a bean counter for the district attorney's office. Rossi's character is more like what Cabot was on SVU.
And we're also reminded that Nick Potter is a rich kid who likes to hide his upbringing from the other, middle class ADAs. He uses his power in the district attorney's office to run his sister's loser boyfriend out of town. Apparently he has run a bunch of crappy boyfriends out of town.

I totally agree with your analysis of this show. When I first started watching it, I thought it had quite a bit of potential. That thought has now waned as this show gets more and more lame (is lamer a word) as each episode goes by.
Anson Mount's character is analagous to David Caruso's (CSI Miami) in terms of being pompous and condescending.
