Kiefer Sutherland reveals in a BBC interview that the 24 movie, long rumored and now official, will be filmed in London. There's no definite release date for the movie, but they haven't started to film it yet. I can never get used to Britain calling a season of a TV show a "series," as in "Sutherland has starred in the Fox show for five series." I mean, what do they call a TV series? It reminds me of that scene in Newsradio, where Matthew tells Bill that in Britain, a flashlight is called a torch, and Bill asks, "what do they call a torch?"

Why London? Why not in America, where everyone is his biggest fan in the U.S.A. am very disappointed, and if it is made in London, I will not go see it and I believe neither will many of his fans. I am going to start a petition to boycott it being made in a foreign country and that petition starts today we want the 24 film made at home.

Stella....what is your problem with Great Britain? One of the US's closest allies? Movies are made offshore all the time. Did you see any of the Lord of the Rings movies? How about Star Wars? Domestic movies are made away from home all the time.
I'm pretty sure you're about the only one of Kiefer's fans that won't go see the movie just because it's being filmed in London.

as a watcher of the show for five years and a true diehard 24 fan this is good news. This will be a "Jack Bauer" story not a "24" story. Moving away from LA is the best thing they can do if they REALLY do make a movie. I will be there opening night....

This petition I have sent out to everyone and anyone that agrees with me
I just read an article that you will be filming 24 abroad, but why London? Why not in America, where everyone is practically your biggest fan in the U.S.A. This is very disappointing and if it is filmed in London or any foreign country, I will not go see it! In addition, I believe neither will many of your fans; I am a Latin American and proud of it. I including many other 24 fans that I have spoken and written to agree. We need that character you play, Jack Bauer, to stay here at home especially with all this controversy happening here in the U.S.A. I am going to start a petition to boycott the 24 movie being made in a foreign country and that petition starts today! we want the 24 film made at home. Please if you have any respects for your followers of the show HEAR OUR DISAPOINTMENT!

Are you gonna go on a hunger strike if they decide to shoot it in uh.. Paris? God forbid eh.
Seriously, people who wanted to change 'french fries' into 'freedom fries' made more sense than you do.

Woah! I was going to add a comment about the series vs. season thing, but this freakshow from Stella is hilarious! Thanks for making me laugh out loud, Ms. JuarezFranco!
I'll avoid slamming your xenophobia, as I'm unlikely to change your pathetically-small mind, but I will point out three things:
1. 24 has always been the "Jack Show", and as this season has killed-off most of the recurring characters from previous years, 24 has no option but to continue as the Jack Show.
2. Most movies producers these days realize that there is a lot of money to be made outside the 50 states. That's why so many films are shot in foreign cities and/or feature foreign actors in key roles. Just look at Mission Impossible 3 -- which has a segment in the far east (because that will increase the films box office in Asia) and features a cult British actor (Simon Pegg) for the benefit of the Brits. My point: get used to thinking beyond these borders.
3. The object of your fanaticism, Mr. Sutherland is a producer of the show, and if he was not interested in spending up to 3 months on location in the UK, he certainly has the power to say no. In fact, I have read a couple of interviews with Keifer, and it seemed to me that he pushed the idea of setting the story in London.
Personally, I think London will be a great backdrop for Jack. So many cool looking locations. Can't wait.
Finally, I think series is a good word, and quite self-explanatory one. Season, however, implies one quarter of a cycle. How did that ever catch on?!!!

Stella, do you realise Kiefer was actually born in London? What are you going to do now - boycott 24 completely until an American is installed as the lead actor? You are a sad, sad woman and I seriously hope you are joking...
By the way, Kiefer thanked the UK in his interview for showing audience support for 24 long before the USA truly did...

Have just read Stella's pathetic comments. Could I also point out that not only was Kiefer born in London, but he is actually Canadian and not American at all. Ian is quite right - in an interview on BBC on Friday Kiefer said that 24 was very slow to take off in the States and the positive response in the UK was what really launched the show and kept it going - so Stella u should be thanking us as he did and stop being so narrow minded!!

Well you may call it pathetic or what ever you want am getting a great repose from us Americans we all are agreeing in the boycott, am one of his biggest fans. Yes, I do know that Mr. Sutherland was born in England, but he made his fame here in the Good Old U.S. of A. I hope he realizes that it would be good for him to make the film in America where he Lives, and Loves, and Learned to Rope and Ride!

Stella - the whole point of shooting a 24 Movie as Kiefer explained in his BBC interview was to allow Jack Bauer the freedom to travel without time restrictions. He can't do that in real-time format the series is done.
The (approx 2 hour) movie will cover a whole 24hours.
Part of the film will be shot in London - and also in other parts of Europe.

Jus wanted to say that Stella is absolutely ridiculous and on the brink of racist! Its people like you that give the great nation of America a bad name.
I think it is brilliant that the movie will be filmed here in London, (i live in Camden, London) as it will bring a whole new angle to the storyline. For those people who want it to be in LA (ie Stella) you must realise that a change of location can only be a good thing for a show that has had 5 series set in the same place. Lets be honest, if Keifer saw your comments Stella, he would probably be glad if you did not go to see the film.

Haha, no kidding eh.
Dear Stella, I am pretty aware of the definition of the word 'boycott'. Guess what? The act of boycotting is a protest! To a lesser extent, similar to going on a hunger strike. Do you get the sarcasm of my previous post now, or would you like a drawing?
By the way, since dictionary.com can't fix your grammar as well as giving you word definitions, here's how your sentence would sound like in correct english:
"All right. Let me give you the definition of the word 'boycott', you moron! It's the act of refusing to deal with, or buy from, in order to protest.
If you don't know what a moron is, it's a stupid person'. Much like yourself."
P.s.: Before you ask, muffin, I am going to go ahead and say that the offer to draw a picture to explain something to you was sarcasm too.

On the Series/Season thing its more due to the fact that in england we dont pay any attention to the schedulers "seasons" of programming... so we just refer to them as they come in series...
Surely infact a series is a more logical word to describe one set of a serial...
On the anti-british sentiment being expressed 24 would probably not exist if it wasnt for the BBC (BRITISH being the first B) and the BRITISH public making the show into a cult hit it probably wouldnt ever have been a big thing over with you guys...

Stella,
1. If by some slim chance Kiefer Sutherland should read your petition, he would laugh himself sick. It is a ridiculous piece of poor spelling and grammar, cynicism and bigotry.
2. If, as you proclaim, you are Kiefer's #1 fan, I would hate to hear what his worst enemy has to say. Grow up!
I recently became a 24 fan in a big way. The show is sensational and I can't wait to see the movie. As for you, you're just going to miss out on a real treat!

A change of scenery would be good, as to where it is filmed doesn't really matter either as long as the end results are good.
PS! Thank you all for the laughter. I've got a good chuckle.
