(S02E22) Mermaids and multiple wives. I like it. Plus, for once we had an episode that really focused on Lindsay - something this season has lacked thus far. We got to see what drives her, hear some of her background, and see what it's like when a case really gets under her skin.
Even better, we got to hear someone say what we've been thinking all along. While Sid was examining the dead woman's body (the one in the mermaid costume), Lindsay mentioned that she was from Montana just like her. She goes on to say that she doesn't like it when Danny calls her "Montana." Then Sid drops the gem: "Danny calls you that because he's got a crush on you." It's about time that storyline picked up some steam.
Let's talk about Sid for a minute here. He's hilarious. When he started talking to Hawkes about the threesome he had with "a couple of vivacious ladies," I was dying. I'm going to be disappointed if Robert Joy isn't in the opening credits next season. Khandi Alexander and Robert David Hall are in the CSI: Miami and CSI credits respectively and they play the medical examiners on their shows. Robert Joy needs to join the ranks as well. Plus, now that I think about it, Hill Harper (who plays Hawkes) was in the opening credits last season while he was still ME. So why no Sid Hammerback? This needs to happen ASAP. Okay, I'm done ranting.
Back to the show, there was still a lot going on with Stella. She's back to work, but she seems to be frequently having flashbacks to the incident with Frankie. It hasn't affected her work (yet, anyway).
What really has me excited is the way the episode ended. After both cases were solved, Mac went back to work on the DJ Pratt case. For those that missed the beginning of the season, he's the rapist who Aiden lost her job over. She almost planted evidence to nail the guy. The rough part is, he's raped many women but just doesn't get caught. Mac promised Aiden he'd get the guy, and I'm sure he will. Without giving it away, it looks like Vanessa Ferlito will reprise her role as Detective Aiden Burn in next week's episode. The reason for her return doesn't have me too pleased though. Until then...

It really sucks that they gave away too much information in the preview for next week.

This show still stinks. I gave the whole second season a chance, and it still stinks. It is IMHO the weakest of the three CSI's.
Miami has the scenic local, beaches, bikini's, money, boats, planes, and Palm Trees, can't forget the palmtrees., Las Vegas is, well....Las Vegas. New York, great city, great people, but another cop show in New York. How exciting.
If it didn't stink, and the supposed revamp for season two was successful, we'd be looking at CSI:FBI or something for Fall '06, but so far not even a whisper of a new CSI Franchise. Not having another CSI Franchise is not necessarily a bad thing.

i don't know that I buy the whole 'crush' thing. I mean how much time does Sid spend around them. and he's been there less than a year. so does he really know Danny well enough to know that that is what is going on. if it had been Mac, Stella or Flack saying it, I'd buy it completely. but I'm not buying it from Sid. especially when Danny's behavior seems more big brother to a little sister than 'flirting' most of the time.

Miami and NYC will never dethrone Las Vegas... But I can't believe people can stomach "supercop" David Caruso. Doesn't anyone notice he always postures himself as the guy who does everything on the show.
Anyway, CSI: NY has definitely come into it's own this year. Finally the characters are gaining some personality. Gary Sinise is a proven talent and I just thought his portrayal last season was too rigid. Finally this year they've started to show some emotion in him.

Finally! Someone who's as much of a Sid fan as I am! The show was looking pretty dull until he came along. I was just about to give up on the second season entirely until he made an appearance. His quirky sense of humor always manages to make me laugh my ass off. They should definitely consider making Robert Joy a permanent cast member.
