(S01E04) What about him? For this episode, they should have changed the title to Everybody Needs Brian. I felt bad for the guy. All Brian was trying to do was have a lazy Saturday full of mindless sex, and the entire day his phone won't stop ringing.
After bumping into Lisa B. at the end of last week's episode, Brian brought her home, proceeded to undress her, and then spent the next 24 hours with her. As I said, his phone wouldn't stop ringing and the problem with that (especially when you have someone new in your apartment), is that they might hear something they shouldn't when the answering machine kicks in. Like what you might ask? Perhaps Marjorie, calling to tell Brian that the two of them need to figure out whatever it is that's going on between them. You do not, under any circumstances, want the girl that you just spent the entire day with hearing a message like that. Goodbye Lisa B.
Meanwhile, Adam and Marjorie are starting to register at department stores for wedding gifts. Adam is 100% not into the idea and Marjorie picks up on it. Perhaps she's having second thoughts about marrying this chump? That's right, I still don't like this Adam character.
Nic is moody because of all the hormone treatments she's taking in an effort to get pregnant. But once Angelo finds out that she's been doing that behind his back, I don't think the resulting argument will go smoothly. Until that day comes, it's funny to watch her go from being happy to irritated every five seconds. The scene where she was trying to figure out which car door was ajar (while the car kept repeating "door ajar') was hilarious.
The real story here was Dave and Deena. After her supermarket parking-lot sex last week, Deena seems to be on edge when she's around Dave. It's their daughter's birthday and Richard (that's the divorced guy she slept with) brings his daughter to the party. In an incredibly heartbreaking scene, Dave was watching the video he recorded all day and caught a glimpse of Richard grabbing Deena to sneak off and do something adulterous. I suppose I don't feel as bad for him though, because he definitely wants to get naked with the video game lady he's in business with now. I forget her name but she was Connie in The Mighty Ducks. Don't ask me why I remember her name in a fifteen year old movie and not in a show I watched last night.
Next week, in Grey's Anatomy style, the show has already reached its finale. Although I think Grey's had nine episodes and we're only getting five here. Regardless, it looks like it's going to be a real cliffhanger. Will Dave confront Deena? Will Marjorie leave Adam for Brian? If they do it well though, then this will definitely be the show that everyone is talking about all summer long.

Any word on how the ratings are doing for this show? I'm invested and I want to know if I will get heartbroken or not.

That's sad because this is pretty good television.
There's a few things I don't like, especially how Angelo is portraied. I am Italian too and you can guess he is as well just by his looks. You don't really need to have him swear in italian while watching the mexican soccer league. And most certanily, the 3 or 4 italians that live in Cali don't paint their faces and meet at pubs to watch games heh.
It's funny to watch i guess but the fact that he's Italian is not even pivotal to the story so why act it out like that.
Other than that, good stuff. I really hope they deliver a good finale so we can at least get another season.
I might be one of the few people on this earth who dont like Lost, but I still have to say that ABC has a very good eye.

Wow, mike. Don't give us *too* much information.
I'm trying to dig up the ratings right now... and like others, I like this show - but I lean towards believing MIke in that they might be bad.

ABC just needs to give the show a bit more time to find a larger audience. It's a wonderful show, and if they played repeats over the summer, I'm sure it would grab the viewers who haven't seen the show yet because they're busy watching other shows they've been invested in this season. The show needs to be given more of a chance. I mean, only 5 episodes and we're already seeing the "season finale" next week? What the....?
If this show gets cancelled, it will break my heart too. All good relationship-type shows get cancelled almost immediately, while cheesy comedies with bad writing who have homely, overweight men married to gorgeous women stay on the air season after season.

Outside of Brian and Marjorie, none of the characters are likable.
Enjoy the finale -- this show isn't coming back.

I can't wait for tonight?s show. I love this show. Brian reminds me of all the nice guys I have ever met but he is cute and gets laid a lot more. I stopped watching a show I normally watch at that time because I am so hooked to this show. I hope it does not get cancelled. I would miss it too much. I don't agree that Brian and Marjorie are the only likeable characters they all have their potential. I like Dave too and Deena is a slut and needs to keep it in her pants but she could still turn things around.

What about Brian is a great show! I Tivo'd it and have shown it to about 20 girlfriends, and every single one of them LOVES it! These are married, single, divorced girls. ABC needs to hype it up a bit more, because they really do have a great hit on their hands! it blows Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy away! Seriously, it will be a huge hit if ABC gets a few more people hooked on the storyline!

I do really like "what about Brian", so I hope that it survives to see another season. There aren't a lot of shows geared toward my demo (late 30s single male) so I can really relate to it.

I love What About Brian too! But after only 5 episodes they are having a season finale...something spells trouble to me. But we can only hope the show makes it through right. I'm hooked on the show, so if it gets cancelled my heart will break in two!

This is a great show and it will be a tragedy if it gets canceled. Shows have to be either mindless 20-something comedies, doctor, or cop shows to survive. This one in intelligently written and appeals to my demographic, the late 20s-30s singles, which no one is creating good TV for now. It sounds defeatist, but I?m sure it will go the way of every other great show that doesn?t appeal to the lowest dredges of American viewers.
