How I Met Your Mother: Best Prom Ever

up(S01E20) Just two episodes left for this season and things are flip flopping faster than you can say ... uh ... flip flopping. By the end of the episode, Ted and Robin were back on speaking terms, Barney was, well, Barney is ageless, and Lily was starting to have some reservations about her upcoming nuptials. When Marshall and Lily had the opportunity to have their wedding at their dream location, they had to make some sacrifices, time being the most prevalent one, and move their wedding up to two months from now. Needless to say, Lily was a little freaked out. Finding a band was at the top of her to do list, and the only place the band Marshall liked was playing was at a local high school's prom. Looks like we're going to prom. On with the show!

First off, if when they showed the flashback you were like "I love that song!" when 'The Freshmen' by The Verve The Verve Pipe was playing, how old did that make you feel? I liked the flashbacks though; they lend some real credibility to Lily's hesitation and why she doesn't want to get married. A guy I knew from high school did some very stupid things before he got married for the same reasons. It was cute seeing how Lily and Marshall first met, and I loved her line about how her doubts weren't in him, they were in her. Very true and once again shows why this show isn't just a Friends clone. I've been saying it for a while, but I don't think that Lily and Marshall end up getting married. It's just a very bad feeling that I can't shake. I hope I'm wrong because they are perfect for each other, but I can't help but feel maybe she's better matched with, lord help me, Barney. Don't you hate it when you have the one friend who's parents are BOTH hippies? Maybe that's what they're trying to accomplish by having Marshall become a corporate lawyer. I don't know. Just ... concerned.

Eventually Robin and Ted were going to have to start speaking to one another again, and it seemed like their sabbatical from talking had gone on long enough in their world so I was happy to see that happen. Supposedly we're in for a big shocking "hook up" within these last two episodes, and now I'm really starting to wonder who it could be. All that's known about it so far is that it's not Robin and Barney. That narrows down the options quite a bit, so unless they're just teasing us and actually are going to have Robin and Ted get together briefly, Barney and Lily may be the only answer to that riddle. Albeit the dude in me really wanted it to be Robin and Lily briefly last night. Two more to go. Will we "meet the mother" this year? Will Marshall and Lily get a happily ever after together? Let me know what you think.

Barneyisms of the Week:
Slut up!
Have you seen how the kids are dressing these days? With the Ashley and the Lindsay and the Paris. They all dress like strippers. It's go ho or go home.
You've got statutory written all over your body.
...And that my friends is why you never get your money's worth when you wear jeans to a strip club.
