(S04E22) Did anyone else find it incredibly funny that almost every commercial break
during this episode had a preview for that new movie Poseidon? We kept going from Horatio and his team having
a grand ol' time investigating murders on a cruise ship to another ship sinking and burning while Richard Dreyfuss ran
around screaming like a girl. I laughed every time.
Of course, it didn't help that I found the episode itself a tad funny. It was a bit of a cheesy installment. Don't get me wrong though. I love the idea of an evil cruise ship captain who strangles people with the neck strap from a pair of binoculars.
Which leads me to my next question. How much pull does an actual cruise ship captain have? Enough to tell the ship's doctor to keep her mouth shut regarding a potential avian flu case? That seemed a bit far-fetched to me and it also took away any credibility that the doctor had. No matter what anyone tells you, how could you in good conscience keep your mouth shut about something like that? Especially when so many other lives were at risk. I suppose it didn't matter since Captain Stupid strangled the infected girl and threw her body in the trash hold.
To make matters worse, the captain started to dump the trash in the ocean in the hopes that the body would slip out. Another guy got pushed overboard, the trash attracted sharks, and then that guy got eaten. Bad luck, huh?
So the two cases weren't very exciting. What was interesting was the federal agent that questioned Marisol about her brother, the dropped drug charges, and her relationship with Horatio. You have to admit; on paper it doesn't look good and this agent wants to bring down the lab investigating it. The real question that matters though is who the mole is. Someone is tipping off people and feeding them all this shady information. We still haven't gotten very many clues on this at all which leads me to believe that we're not going to like who it ends up being. At this point, it'd be a letdown if it turned out to be one of the minor characters. One question I have is how that reporter Erica knew about it way earlier in the season but told Wolfe so little? How come he hasn't grilled her on it since then?
Another fold? Marisol and Horatio are now engaged. It looks like they're getting married in next week's episode. I can't wait to see the vows:
Priest: ...and do you, Horatio Caine, take Marisol Delko to be your wife?
Horatio: (tilts head to left) Um, well. Yes. I do.

Horatio is a split personality guy and the second personality is called "Hornblower" and he is trying to bring Horatio down.

I was shocked to see Sherilyn Fenn on this episode not looking too good. I fell in love with her hard in Twin Peaks and I still have her Playboy issue - but unlike the 2 other hotties in Twin Peaks (Lara Flynn Boyle and Madchan Amick - wow I still remember their names) who have remained hot Sherilyn looks like a real mom now - when was Twin Peaks - 16 years ago? How old is Sherilyn now - looking at her on CSI she must be late 40's but she is only 41.
Also good to see James Remar again - havent seen him since my guilty pleasure North Shore. And as the voice of Hawkman on Justice League Unlimited.
While I do like seeing familiar faces on CSI it just almost always is obvious that they are the villian...I think you'd want to guest on CSI as the killer otherwise why be on it.
I liked the episode and I like the team being watched. But the whole set up between Horatio and Marisol is obvious so that when she dies at the end of this season we see why it will shake Horatio up more than usual.
I used to think it was neat and a good idea to NOT show personal lives on the CSI shows and its all about the case - but I guess after so many cases, its good to see more about their personal lives.
I have to say that Ryan Wolfe is my favorite character on all the CSI's...John Togo should have a career after the show wraps up.

Hi. Anybody know the name of the song playing at the end of the episode, when Horatio and Marisol discuss marriage? It is the same song that played during the end of the episode "Payback" earlier this season, when Horatio confronted the rape victim outside of her house. Thanks for your help.

Ok, so I'm watching this week's episode and what gives. Why is Eric so against the marriage? Also, Horatio mentions to him that they have little time to get married yet in the next scene Eric and Marisole talk about "What if the cancer comes back"

I just watched this (recorded) episode last night, and actually, the shocking part of the plot to me--and I'm still kinda saying, hummm, was there, like, a big mutation in bird flu in the last couple weeks and I missed it or something?--is that avian flu is not contagious from humans. Why, one wonders, didn't the writers pick a highly-contagious disease? Unlike ABC's science fiction "Bird Flu" movie, which takes place *after* the evolution of a human-to-human strain, this CSI episode appears to be taking place currently, when there are still no verified cases of human-to-human transmission. It just made no sense to me whatsoever. It would be as if Horatio suddenly started babbling about that 10.5 earthquake last year, where half of California fell into the ocean. As to the doubts about whether a cruise ship crew would or could cover up an incidence of a disease, you really do need to get out more! It's highly unlikely that a crew would stoop to murder (although there are *lots* of people--TV news shows even--who love to speculate about it wrt some real-life cases) cruise ships are notorious for their low-profile approach to anything that disturbs the illusion.
