The May ratings period started last Thursday and, so far,
CBS is in the lead. The network is a ratings powerhouse on Thursdays with Survivor, CSI, and
Without a Trace. Numb3rs is keeping it on top on Fridays. Of course, FOX is going to take over the
lead early this week with 24, American Idol, and House.Of all the networks, I think I watch CBS the least (okay, if we're including all the networks, I watch The Home Shopping Network the least). I still find myself watching a lot of NBC (Scrubs, Earl, The Office). Because of all those years of great programming in the 1990s, I think I may subconsciously be loyal to the NBC brand.
What do you think is the best network (cable included)? Why?

The networks I watch most are ABC and The WB.
I'd say ABC is the best because they have Lost, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy and Commander in Chief. The WB is also great since they have Smallville, Supernatural, Gilmore Girls and Everwood. I watch CBS the least as well since I'm not into crime dramas. The only things I watch on CBS are Survivor and The Amazing Race. I almost skipped The Amazing Race since I think of it as a CTV show.

90% of my TV watching is done on DVR and is pretty fairly spread across the major networks. However, the few shows that I do watch live are on CBS (Amazing Race and Survivor) and Fox (American Idol).

I think Fox would be #1 for me. Prison Break, 24, House, Simpsons, Family Guy... and Seinfeld repeats, which I watch regularly. I hardly ever watch NBC anymore, and have no real allegiance to CBS... I'd say I like ABC because of Lost, that's it. As for cable, I used to watch a lot of Showtime a few years ago, but their programming went downhill. Otherwise, TBS (sitcoms, movies) and USA (Monk, L&O repeats) are my cable networks of choice.

I tend to watch NBC the most out of all the networks. In fact, other than ABC's 'In Justice' I haven't watched another network show. I watch 'The Apprentice' on Monday, 'Scrubs' and 'SVU' on Tuesdays, 'Earl', 'The Office' and 'ER' on Thrusdays, and 'West Wing' and 'Criminal Intent' on Sundays. I never gotten into any of the new shows on CBS or ABC.

HBO by a long margin, and I tend to give any new show on HBO at least a few episodes to grow on me.

I do not subscribe to the premium channel, so only the 'big 3'
Not to sound snotty, but since I had my TIVO, I could not tell you what station most of the shows I watch are on. I know the majority, but I did not know "In Justice" was an ABC show till I went to ABC web site. I could not be a 100% what network does "the unit" or "reba" But i love those 2 shows.
Oh The Network "Torrent" is coming up fast as a network in my house. (Don't tell the feds.)

I agree that I am particularly loyal to NBC: continuing with The Office, The West Wing, and Scrubs.
ABC has got my attention with LOST and to a much lesser extent Desparate Housewives.
I never touch CBS. I don't even know what channel it is.

I don't watch any CBS shows, except maybe the occasional Cold Case on Sundays when there's a Simpsons rerun.
I don't watch a lot of NBC, except for the Office. I used to watch My Name is Earl, but I haven't been keeping up with the show since they moved it to Thursdays.
I watch ABC on Wednesdays, starting with George Lopez, which happens to be one of only two live sitcoms I watch, and now Alias. And I end my ABC night with Lost.
I stopped watching Smallville after they killed Papa Kent. The only show on the WB I watch is Gilmore Girls. And the only UPN show I watch is Veronica Mars, and I only watch it on Sundays when they rebroadcast it locally.
So, Fox has to be my most watched broadcast network. I watch most of the Sunday night line-up, minus Malcolm and the War at Home. And I watch Prison Break and 24 on Mondays. I also watch FX, with the Shield and Thief.
And I usually check out most of the new series on HBO for the first few weeks. But I catch Curb Your Enthusiams, Deadwood, and the Sopranos when they show up.
And finally, like the person above me, I tend to alledgedly download several torrent shows here or there, usually South Park, or the Boondocks. I also use torrents to catch shows I read about here or other places just so I can check out what the fuss is about.

I grew up in a CBS household and I have always retained a soft spot for the eye network. When I was seriously considering an internship with a television network a couple of years ago, I was so glad that it was CBS (unfortunately I turned it down in favor of further educational pursuits).
I don't have nearly as much time for television as I once did, but of all the networks I, still probably watch CBS the most with 60 Minutes and Cold Case on Sunday, King of Queens, 2.5 Men, and Christine on Monday and CBS Sunday Morning. My second favorite network is probably C-SPAN.
I still watch a lot of reruns of Seinfeld, King of Queens, and I Love Lucy. However, much of my free time is spent using the Internet or watching programs I have recorded with my TiVo.

For me ABC is #1, because of Alias, Lost and Invasion. Prisonbreak is the only reason I watch Fox and Crossing Jordan is the only thing I watch on NBC. Then, W/out a Trace and Amazing Race on CBS,

I went down my Season Pass Manager on Tivo to figure this out. I was surprised but I think it's more CBS shows. Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars top my list but I have Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Lost, Alias, What about Brian, CSI, Survivor, Without a Trace, etc. I still had NBC shows but they aren't as high up on the pass list anymore. West Wing is probably our highest rated NBC show and that's leaving us.
The thing I love about cable networks is they repeat episodes so you don't have to watch them in prime time. Rescue Me, Monk, Big Love, Deadwood, etc. They can record late at night and give us something to watch while we record other things and can zip through commercials. Watching any show live is hard for us after having a Tivo for about 5 years now.

Now that Arrested Development is gone, I only watch three shows regularly - 24, The Office and Lost. Each of those are on a different network, so I guess I don't really like one network better than another.

My number one favorite station is The Food Network. I love Mario Batali, Alton Brown, Giaga de Laurentiis and Paula Dean. I also love their specials and Iron Chef, of course. Bravo comes in high on the list because of shows like Top Chef (in my opinion Bravo makes the only reality shows that are watchable), I'm also a huge fan of Comedy Central (if for nothing else than South Park and the Colbert Report... and Daily Show, as well). If anything else on TV gets my time it is Adult Swim, BattleStar Galactica, and Lost (which is usually the only show I watch on broadcast TV). Then of course there is DW, which we are lucky to get on public access. Thank God!

I find myself watching a lot of CBS shows, followed by a smaller number of shows on Fox, NBC and ABC - probably in that order. I only watch "Smallville" on The WB and can't think of the last time I watched a show on UPN more than once. Maybe that's why The WB and UPN wil shortly cease to be. Of course I'm 49 which may explain my choices.

The one that I watch the most is the WB. Unfortunately, two of the three shows I watch on that network are going off the air. One is 7th Heaven, the other is Charmed. The surviving show is Smallville (I am a big Superman and Batman fan and feel that this is one of the best Superman related shows ever). I am also a fan of the Simpsons on Fox which seems like it will be on forever.

I also wanted to mention that I watch a lot of TV Land. I like the classic shows it airs, and also some of the originals, like the TV Land Awards and some behind the scenes type shows.

I too am an NBC fan. Prison Break (FOX) Monday, American Idol (this season only) (FOX) Tuesday, Lost (ABC) Wednesday, Numb3rs (CBS) Friday, Extreme Home Makeover & Desperate Housewives (ABC) Sunday are the only times i take it off NBC.
I'm glad to see there's another ER & Crossing Jordan fan out there.
