Desperate Housewives: It Wasn't Meant To Happen

desperate housewivesThis was one of the better episodes of the season. Well, it was one of the best in my book. We had less Susan and more Applewhite, Scavo and Van De Camp this week, and that meant more answers than questions. Though there wasn't a lot of the Solis family, what we did see was surprisingly heartbreaking for a couple who aren't typically in such a situation.

Obviously, with only three episodes left, we're seeing things finally start coming to a close, though so far it's really no match for what we saw in this series' first season.

The most surprising revelation this week was that Betty Applewhite would rather see Caleb die at her own hands (or rather, her son's hands) than to see him committed to an institution. The whole plan between Danielle and Matthew was pretty surprising, but even though their plan worked, it's sort-of backfiring on them.

The other big happening worth mentioning this week was Carlos and Gaby losing their baby to the system. I'm not completely up on adoption laws in this country, but this is exactly the sort of thing I'd feared once in my own past. To fall in love with a child, only to have it stripped from you, and there's nothing you can do about it. I sometimes wonder if this is why some people choose to adopt from overseas rather than wrestle with such issues here in the States.

The previews for the last few episodes definitely look to be interesting, though  I really hope they're not leading us on with false hope with some of them. Will Bree's son really come down on her like he promised? Will Tom's little secret finally come out? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
