If there is
any one show that can claim long-running success with a ever-changing cast of characters, it's NBC's Law &
Order. For example, during its 16-year run (which will become 17 years starting next fall), the
Assistant District Attorney's second-chair slot, which actor Richard Brooks left back in 1993, has been filled
by five individuals: Jill Hennessy, Carey Lowell, Angie Harmon, Elisabeth Rohm (who departed earlier
this last season) and Annie Parisse as current ADA Alexandra Borgia. Doctor Who didn't even
regenerate this much in so little time!
Well, it looks like Parisee may be heading out the door this season, according to Zap2it. Of course, NBC is keeping mum about this rumored departure in order to maximize its ratings during May sweeps. The only mention of the final episode involves Borgia's boss, ADA Jack McCoy (Sam Waterson), who risks everything in order to nab two vicious criminals.
Parisee's Borgia replaced Rohm's Serena Southerlyn earlier this season when she was let go from the DA's office. In a bit of a departure from the L&O formula, which rarely steeps into a character's background, Southerlyn asked if she was let go because she was a lesbian. Who would replace Borgia? Well, if Conviction isn't renewed, there will be a whole mess of new ADA's to choose from. Maybe McCoy can team up with Alexandra Cabot (Stephanie March).

"Elisabeth Rohm (who departed earlier this season)"
This didn't sound right to me so I looked it up, according to IMDB Annie Parisse was in the first episode of season 16. Actually Rohm did the first 12 shows of season 15 and Parisse did the final 12.

Well, since Cabot is a bureau chief that might be a step down for her. If they were going to pull someone from that show I'd love to see Julianne Nicholson take the spot. She's still my favorite actor from Conviction and she would be a great assistant for Jack McCoy and a nice liberal foil to Fred Thompson's over-the-top conservative caricature. That being said, I hope they don't cancel Conviction. The show has really developed over the last few weeks and is turning into a good series. Of course, L&O: Trial by Jury was a great show with better ratings than Conviction and NBC still cancelled it. I won't be holding my breath.

Here's a question that those with a better knowledge of the law (or the show) than me might be able to answer -- would Jack McCoy still be *assistant* district attorney these 12 years later?

#3 Jack McKoy is an Executive Assistant District Attorney. Everyone but the District Attorney is an ADA in New York, the DA is an elected position.
Wouldn't this make Borgia the shortest serving person in the hot seat at a season and a half? Jamie Ross was at least around for two years.

Ha ha. Conviction was an okayish show, but when I saw Cabot having sex on her desk (still haven't gotten over that), the show was over for me. I wouldn't mind seeing her on the mothership seeing as she was so much better on a procedural show (as opposed to whatever phony term Dick gave Conviction - some messed up combination of "character" and "procedural"), but like someone said, that would be a step down. She should join the mothership, but not as Jack's assistant and for the love of god they should explain how she got out of WPP. My choice for Jack's second would be either Jessica Rossi or Christina Finn.

I think D.A Alex ( Stephanie March) Should consider joining in with D.A Jack McCoy that will be awesome as both of them have good ability to prosecute criminals, I have seen Alex's performance on Law & Order Special Victim Unit, I think it will be great benefit for her to join Law & Order. As for replacing Dennis Farina it was shame he decided to leave but maybe Chris Noth could come back on Law & Order, I admire his performance as Detective Mike Logan, since he only does some episodes on Law & Order Criminal Intent so maybe Detective Mike Logan can join Law & Order again & be full time detective in honor of Detective Briscoe. As he & Detective Logan has worked together several years so it will be nice seeing him work with DA Jack McCoy. It's just my suggestion...
