Ah, I see The Food Network
has crossed over to the dark side. Last night, I saw a promo for an upcoming special called, Catering Impossible
M:i:III. Because there's just not enough Tom Cruise happening these days.In case you're interested, it's a behind-the-scenes look at how a team of cooks feeds an army of actors and production folk who make the movie. It airs Saturday at 9 pm.

That actually sounds interesting. Not the Tom Cruise part or even the Mission: Impossible tie-in, but the whole process of feeding the people who make the movies. I mean presumably a lowly Best Boy does not eat the same food that Ving Rhames is fed (note that I didn't say the name of the Suri's daddy). In the old days peope just went to the studio commissary but with so many films shooting on location the process becomes increasingly complicated.

I'd like to make this perfectly clear, especially to Anna Johns. I created the show "CATERING IMPOSSIBLE" from an idea that my partner had. He happens to be Frank Woodward, the caterer that the show followed. I directed a short film that Frank and I produced titled: "THE DARK AGENT" and during that shoot Frank spoke to me about an idea to create a show that would follow him from the phone call getting hired for a film all the way through production. At this point we did not have "MISSION IMPOSSIBLE lll". We were planning to shoot the idea on another film. But we were fortunate enough to get MI3 at the same time we were rolling. We pitched the idea to THE FOOD NETWORK about doing a "behind the scenes look at motion picture catering". We funded the project on our own and once finished The Food Network picked it up.
Now I hear people saying "how could Paramount stoop so low to market a film on the Food Network", these conspiracy therorists continue to rant about something they have no clue about.
So, just to keep you informed, I am in the midst of another deal to do another show and I can guarantee you that there is NO studio involved as of yet. And I wouldn't have it any other way. My advice "Do some research before you assume".
