What has happened to the word "exclusive?"

Katie and TomIt's unfortunate what has happened to some word these days. "Genius," and "cool" have all gotten twisted in the past couple of decades. Now add to that list the word "exclusive."

You ever notice the tabloid shows (ET, Access Hollywood, The Insider, Extra) will all say they have an "exclusive" interview with a celeb, but then you turn on another show and they'll have an interview with the same celeb, often in the very same chairs that the other interview had? What's up with that? Larry King does it a lot too. These shows honestly think that just because they interview a celeb on their show at a certain time in a certain way, that this qualifies as an "exclusive." Didn't exclusive once mean that no one else had the interview?

Tonight, ET is saying that Charlie Sheen "only spoke to them" about his divorce mess with Denise Richards. But at the very same time, over on Extra, he was being interviewed by Jerry Penacolli. I guess he "only spoke" to several shows (this isn't Sheen's fault, it's the lame teasers and advertising that the shows do).

I'm going to start putting the word "exclusive" in all of my posts.  Because even if some other TV blog writes a post about Brad Pitt, I can still say it's an "exclusive" because it's exclusive to this blog. Or whatever logic the tabloid shows use.

And while we're at it, can I tell you how disgusting all of these tabloid shows are being about the Cruise/Holmes baby? Not just the endless coverage of the pregnancy, the speculation on the marriage, the birth (the paparazzi absolutley freaked out when a baby carriage was delivered to the hospital, taking pictures of it like it was some lost treasure or something), but I just watched two different tabloid shows give Cruise baby gifts. One show gave him M & Ms with the baby's name and weight on them, and the other show gave him a giant basket filled with stuffed animals and other gifts.

Yeah, that will help the new couple as they make a new life together, because having a kid really hits the wallet hard.
