According to some recent buzz, Eva Longoria
does not plan to renew her contract with ABC's Desperate Housewives. Longoria said, "I don't want to be on 7th Heaven -- on for 20 years and no one's really watching
and it's hanging on by a thread." Apparently, she'd rather not waste her
time on the show past her contract because she has her sights set solely upon the silver screen (she already has one
new film, The Sentinel, co-starring Michael Douglas).I'm not that into the whole Housewives scene, but I've heard that many think the show has lost its steam since it started out with a bang in 2004. Do you think Longoria's worrying a little too early, or are her fears justified?

I love DH...I would be sad to see Eva go and I think she is a big part of why so many people like the show. It wouldn't be the same without her. Yes, the show moves fast with its subplots but I love the show just the same. I hope it has a successful run.

If she leaves the show, you can't blame her. I was a big fan of the show and she was my favorite. In my opinion, the first season was much better than this season. This season, I don't even watch anymore because the stroyline is out of control. It's not good at ALL, it's dumb. If Eva leaves, this show will not get another season because let's face it, this show isn't anything without her. Even though no matter what Eva does in the future she will always be tied to being a "Desperate Housewife." Her new movie "The Sentinel," was great. I can definitely see her taking over the silver screen. She's no Julia Roberts, Halle Berry, or Angelina Jolie but she can do good and make much more money with the silver screen. And now is definitely the right time to be considering leaving the show, unless they get a good set of writers to come up with a great storyline.

i'd rather watch her boyfriend play basketball than watch her act anyway-it's amazing how marginal performers in a successful show come to think they're destined for stardom

I was so dissapointed to see tonight was a recap. I'm ready to quit watching if they don't stop showing reruns. It's a shame Eva has gotten the big head. I really like her but I'm tired of people running out on a show that made them a hit.

I still like DH and watch it but I was sick to death of the constant re-runs halfway through the first season. I don't watch 24 but I hear one of the biggest reasons it's still building an audience in it's fifth season is because of consistency of new episodes (they do all the episodes in a row).
DH is like LOST .. ABC is gutting the show to make a buck.. it's actually really sad when you think about it.... once these two shows are gone (and eventually people will sick of the never ending reruns and stop watching) ABC will scratch it's head and wonder how it squandered away it's gold mine.
I'll tell you now: GREED. It's what killed Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (wasn't it on like three or four times a week at one point? UGH!). Too many episodes, not enough episodes....
As for Ms. Longoria... sigh... well, Farrah Fawcett, Susanne Sommers, David Caruso, and the list goes on. Those who believe their own hype are doomed to spend time in the bargain basement of obscurity.. "those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it"

This show (or NOSHOW) has been frustrating to me because the network is not consistantly airing it. I don't think it can last with that kind of unreliability. Grrr, because it's great.
As for Longoria, thumbs up with the Mexican thing she's got going, but from what she says in interviews, I don't like her.

Heard about DH, never watched it. Why? Because I do not have cable or satellite. In any case I would be too busy to watch it, even if I did have either one. But all this noise about Eva L. Who cares? She is allowed to make her choices in life and it does not matter whether she is white, black, mexican or latino. Who knows where her destiny is leading her? I say more power to her! And all yea jealous/opinionated individuals - give it a rest!!

I love watching DH and enjoy all the plots. I can't wait for the next week's show, however, it is very frustrating that there are more reruns than new shows. As far as Ms. Longoria, I love her character and hope that she stays on for another season. She's a beautiful actress who adds to the show's success. Stop running reruns and get on with the show!!

Good for Longoria. I'm glad that she has enough class to not make a career out of one role. DH is an ensemble series with massive ratings. They writers can always bring on another actress and a new character. It won't hurt the series, and Longoria is probably making a good career move. I wish more actors would do this. I get sick of all these series like the CSIs (isn't there one for every night of the week?) and American Idol that run for like 20 years when each week its nothing but the same garbage over and over and over again. Here's hoping William Petersen and Simon Cowell get movie deals, too.

I don't blame her. The show is one of those shows that has the potential to played out longer than it really should. Truth is that it was better the first season and now it's just ehh. Grey's Anatomy is sooo much better!!

I am sick and tired of review of past week's episodes on DH. How many times can we be reminded of previous episodes. If it is to stay on the air then it better change its style of programming. who knows if it is a rerun or new episode or telling people about earlier episodes. One more time this season and I will start watching Grey's anatomy first then I will just forget about Desperate Housewiives. this is a bunch of sh-----. Who do they think they are dealing with.. A bunch of deadheads who have nothing more to do with their lives then wait week after week after week watching for new episodes to suddenly appear. Count me out as "not desperate" from here on out

I love DH but I dont understand all the reruns and the shoes that just brings you up-today like tonights show. They will lose so many people over the reruns. We are use to reruns after a show's cliffhanger but not during a regular season. Are the writers running out of stuff to write about or do the actors not want to work to put out more episodes? I hope DH is back for the next few seasons. I think that the show is great.

This is a reply to what Debra wrote,"Eva will end up like all the Farrah's", number 1 there is, was , and always will be only ONE Farrah!!And Ms. Longoria is in no way near what Farrah became in one short year, THEE BIGGEST STAR IN THE UNIVERSE! What Farrah accomplished from "Charlies Angels" has never been duplicated by ANY T.V. star in the 30yrs since Charlie's Angels went off the air, bar none! You think those "Desperate Housewifes" are over-exposed? put them all together and they still couldn't match Farrah's unmatched media blitz,( Teri Hatcher is doing pretty well for herself though) but no contest, Farrah Fawcett is THEE biggest t.v. star of all time!

DH has always had me craving more, but as already said and just like tonight, I was VERY disappointed!! If its not a re-run, its the "what happened this season" not like anyone could have missed any of it cuz they play them OVER AND OVER!! I set my schedule so every sunday I can watch it (and Grays Anatomy) but when the week before the previews for the coming week say its going to be something new and then you sit to watch it and its a darn re-cap for the season... I was MAD!! dont waste your money buying the season series its only 9 programs... now how can a WHOLE season play ONLY 9 SHOWS????? Geesh... ABC... COME ON!!

The Sentinal (Eva's big screen debut) failed to even knock Scary Movie 4 out of the top spot. It earned a pitiful 13 million (that may seem a lot to some, but add it up yourselves, the average movie ticket is 8.0, so divide 13 million by 8 and that is not even half the viewers that Desperate Housewives gets every week) Eva should take a hint at this, she is nothing. Keifer Sutherland is the star of 24 and he isn't going anywhere even if he does get plenty of big screen movies.

Positively a David Caruso/Kathy Lee Gifford moment. I doubt she will be a hit on the big screen. I'm not even sure if she'd continue to be very big on the small screen.

I loved the show and all the subplots, but every week is a repeat or it's just not on. Eva's movie just got lousy reviews, she should stick with the guy who brought her and be happy she has a job. By the way, is she a citizen or did she just walk across the border to get a job?
