According to some recent buzz, Eva Longoria
does not plan to renew her contract with ABC's Desperate Housewives. Longoria said, "I don't want to be on 7th Heaven -- on for 20 years and no one's really watching
and it's hanging on by a thread." Apparently, she'd rather not waste her
time on the show past her contract because she has her sights set solely upon the silver screen (she already has one
new film, The Sentinel, co-starring Michael Douglas).I'm not that into the whole Housewives scene, but I've heard that many think the show has lost its steam since it started out with a bang in 2004. Do you think Longoria's worrying a little too early, or are her fears justified?

It's fair to assume the show will end in more or less 3 years, but it sure has some potential for a couple of seasons... if they do not jump the shark on a mysterious island.

In this five-minutes-ago-is-old culture, where something that gets good ratings in its first two weeks is considered a hit, 'Desperate Housewives' has to be the most overrated thing to come down the pike (second is Grey's Anatomy.) Can we please go back to making distinctions between what is good and what is successful? Eva Longoria is worrying about having Stephen Collins' fate (I don't remember him complaining ever) when she ought to have a chat with David Caruso.

I'm not currently watching any soap operas or DH, but I do not understand soap opera bashing. You don't like 'em? That's fine. Don't watch. I'm sure everything you watch edifies you.

They started out with a bang that turned into a dud. They have started some pretty good story lines and then let them drop without getting the full potential out of them. New writers and a consistent schedule would help

She's going on her new founded gosh-the-media-can't-get-enough-of-me fame and playing it like a J-Lo rewrote script.
Hopes she makes it but I don't see a BIG Angelina Jovie move. She's pretty but she's like a LOT of pretty, small, sexy Hispanic women. After a while, they all look the same.
J-Lo...she has Talent with her voice AND acting.

I hope Eva is not assuming that she is already toooo big a star for TV. She will end up just like the Farrah's, the Curroso guy and all the others who thought there STAR was too big.......

Personally I think the show has too many subplots and lacks much in the way of substance. Its hard to get into the show because it bounce around from one character to another and also, as one other person noted, it airs sporatically so by the time 2 or 3 weeks go by you've lost some of the context of the show. I only watch it because my wife does and its something we do together. Otherwise I'd watch Sunday Night Baseball.

I love this show, but am sad that most times it is a rerun. I love all the story lines. Bree is going through what alot of single mothers have to deal with. It is nice to see some exposure to these issues. And how many woman are going through what Susan does?? LOTS!!! Gabby and Carlos are just funny and Lynette is the perfect example of what life is like to be a working mother trying to raise good children. It is not easy and there are many challenges. The way you react to a situation with your children, will decide if they will continue to be open with you in the future!! I applaud Lynette!!
If Eva wants to stop after her contract is up to start a family or make movies....what is all the fuss? She wants to broaden her career and spend more time at home. I think she has great values!! Go Girl!!

I used to like D. H.,but I don't care enough to watch regularly. As for Ms. Longoria - take what you can get and run - we won't remember you either way. By the way, who's David Caruso?

I think Eva has the talent, may be overexposed but if
she can make it to the top why not? More power to her.

Geez, I had no idea there were that many anti-"soap style" TV people. I like DH when it first aired, it isn't as good as it once was, but its still good for a laugh. I think people expect that its supposed to be like Knots Landing, all drama and intensity and it has a lot more goofy moments. Its a TV show people, its not George Bush's State of the Union Address...even though there are equal dumb moments. Either way, Eva is dumb for thinking that she's better than the show, its what made her the household name that she is. But then in 3 years it may not matter cuz the show may not be around after that.

I think the show is not as good as it used to be. My husband use to watch it with me now he can't stand it. It was good at the beginning and now it is boring. I can't even figure out what the heck is going on anymore.
