With Lake and Michelle gone, there's no team to really root against. So who to root for? Eric and Jeremy are just
too cocky and bland for me. The hippies are charming but lackadaisical and I just can't get behind Joseph and Monica.
That leaves me with Ray and Yolanda and Fran and Barry. The oldsters have definitely stepped up their game. Meanwhile,
Ray and Yolanda just can't seem to get together as a team. I used to think their poor navigation was bad luck now I'm
not so sure. How close a team is emotionally often plays a factor in how well they function in the race.Tonight's race centers on Muscat, Oman. I've heard a lot about this country recently so it was fun to get a look at
it. Definitely a place to put on the dream vacation list. On the way to Sur, the teams cross through a river which
doesn't really add much to the game but seems to be fun for the teams.
The Detour is a choice between Camel:
loading a camel into a pickup truck, or Watchtower: searching watchtowers for a clue. The consensus seems to be
Watchtower except for Eric and Jeremy who can't resist the opportunity to play with a camel. Joseph and Monica once
again change tasks midstream and go for the camel option. The Golden Boys, Eric and Jeremy wind up getting a bit lost.
Ray and Yolanda, who are lingering in last, choose the camels too.
The Roadblock involves digging in the
desert for a lamb dinner in a buried oven. Joseph makes Monica do the digging which results in a whole lot of pouting.
She actually finds her dinner pretty fast. BJ can't find a lamb dinner to save his life and Ray and Yolanda catch up
with them. Yolanda is actually nice enough to cheer BJ on as he digs (after she finds one). Poor BJ is exhausted, lying
down and digging as all the other teams depart.
Getting to the castle pit stop seems to be a challenge for
everyone. Fran and Barry make it all the way to the number one spot. Finally someone other than Eric and Jeremy! Joseph
and Monica are second and look pretty peeved. Ray and Yolanda are third while Eric and Jeremy and BJ and Tyler fight for
last place. What a big reversal. Eric and Jeremy struggle in as fourth leaving BJ and Tyler as the last team. Luckily,
it's a non-elimination round and the hippies are still in it. Could Fran and Barry actually go all the way? Every other
team is young and fit and determined but Fran and Barry are proving to be much stronger than anyone thought.

Doesn't everyone get it yet? DO NOT CHOOSE THE ANIMAL in a Detour. Avoid the animal. Sheesh.
No big shock it was a non-elimination. They've been hoarding them for the last few weeks of this season...

I can't believe you didn't mention anything about the hippies in the bus. We were roaring laughing at their impersonation of Lake!!! We were all teary eyed as well when Fran and Barry showed up first. Whew!!

I can NOT belive that Fran and Barry came in first! I was very happy for them though. I think that they got lucky that the Frat Boys and Hippies had a bad leg and once they get back in their groove Fran and Barry may be out.
Speaking of the Hippies... I love this team! They are such fun and seem to have such big hearts. Did you see how upset Tyler was to watch his friend struggle? They are so nice that even the teams they are competing with are cheering for them. I was very glad it was a non-elimination because I want the Hippies to win. I think they are so entertaining that they should have a travel show after the show is over.

The best part was BJ & Tyler doing impersonations of the "ghosts" on their bus (all eliminated contestants). Especially the "Oman, is that in China?"
Missy, I'd watch that show too!

Fran and Barry got lucky, pure and simple. They won't stand a chance when it is down to the wire against a team like the Frat Boys, The Hippies or even MoJo.
You don't win the Amazing Race while making the mistakes that Fran and Barry did early in the race. Numerous times they walked RIGHT PAST clue boxes and that were in plain site and couldn't find them. They should have been eliminated long before now and I can't wait until the episode where they finally go home.
Anyone else noticed how funny it is when Fran and in particular Barry try to act all stonefaced and purposely don't help teams when they are all at the airport waiting for a flight? They try to act all tough. It's funny to see.

I'm so glad the hippies didn't get the boot. Besides the Hippies I don't really care for the other teams. It was good to see Fran and Barry get first though. I know though, that once the Hippies and the frat boys get in their grove, Fran and Barry could get eliminated.

I can't wait for the episode when Eric and Jeremy get eliminated. They are one of my least favorite teams ever to play on the race ! LIFE-SLACKERS..."hey dude, let's just follow another team.....". I remember in the very beginning when they introduced the teams and they said they wanted to have a million dollars but just didn't want to work for it..... when Eric and Jeremy can't follow someone else, they get lost.
Actually, this round of teams was one of my least favorites across the board. If it weren't for the great locales, I probably could have skippped the episodes up to the finals.
Way to go Fran and Barry! It was nice to see an underdog win something nice for a change.

FRAN AND BARRY ROCKS!!! I AM SO HAPPY FOR THEM!!! I SCREAMED WHEN I SAW THEM ARRIVED FIRST!!!
Well its not luck!!! They know how to navigate and that's why they won! They haven't made mistakes and that's how you win! They maybe passed right beside a couple of times earlier this season, but they just got better! They won't get philiminated because they know how to navigate! On longer distances its better for them! Other teams always stops but they don't! GO FRAN AND BARRY FOR THE MILLION!!!
From your biggest fan!
