OK, I'm risking a comment assault on my inbox by posting
this, but what the hell, I feel like taking some (calculated) risks today:According to everyone's favorite column, Page Six in the New York Post, Bo Bice got into a drunken scrape with a fan the other night at a midtown Manhattan pub. But this wasn't just any fan, it was Glenn Parker, who at one time was an NFL offensive lineman (he played on my favorite team, the New York Giants, the last time they went to the Super Bowl).
The article states that Parker approached the Idol reject, asking him if he was indeed Bo Bice. Bice denied it; when Parker came back to Bo to apologize for bothering him, Bo started flailing his arms, grazing Parker under the chin with one swing. Instead of crushing him like a bug, Parker called for a bartender, who helped him throw the long-haired crooner out of the bar.
Parker needs to be commended for his restraint; at 6'5" and 300 pounds, he could have really gone to town on Bice. As for Bo... well... he should be grateful his face is still intact. The next time he grows beer muscles, he may not be so lucky.

Guess I'll be the first....;-)
Just wait until we hear the other side of the story. Bo is a gentle, nonviolent person who loves his fans. This didn't go down as you've described it and Bo made it clear in an interview today that while he loves being approached by fans, that's not what happened in this case. Don't believe everything you read.

I'll believe Parker. He's a bigger star and has accomplished more than this Idol reject.

From some news accounts, the person approached said his name was Kevin. Was this person positively identified as Bo Bice? If so, by whom?

I kind of like the idea of feisty Bo, but I never believe page 6, so I'm sure there was more to this than oh-so-innocent football player just says 'hi' and Bo attacks him. Still, boy has cohones!

Bo is on a promotional tour in support of his hit CD, The Real Thing, and has been meeting fans all over the east coast.

I don't believe this for a minute. Bo is a very gentle, kind person, and this would be totally out of character for him. Try some objective reporting instead of throwing cheap shots.

I have met Bo and know he loves having people asking for his autograph...the articles have had an interesting tone to them which tells me that there must be more than meets the eye...Bo did not deny the situation on the interview today...but he did say it was hard living in the public eye all the time. I say cut him some slack and give him the benefit of the doubt, because common sense tells you that he probably would not haul off and punch a 300-pounder for no reason whatsoever.

Nobody's perfect, and to think The Biceman may have not made a mistake, that is crazy. The 'Irish' in him doesn't lend well to shots, perhaps. Let's hope he didn't go there.... but that might explain. The celebrity hassle maybe tiring to anyone...think about it...then add shots...

Get a grip. There aren't four of you who have any idea what kind of person Bo Bice is. Or Glenn Parker. I have, however, lived long enough to know people will do strange things when they have been drinking. The bartender certainly saw what happened. If he threw this loser out, he probably deserved it. Besides...Bo Bice? The name alone merits having his ass kicked.

Wouldn't put it past Bo doing this as a publicity stunt. Has to do something to keep his career out front. Sort of like Tom having a baby with Katie.

Glen parker was in the Super Bowl against the Giants because he played for the Bills. He didn't play for the Giants until a year later. He was also a great family man. I saw him several times with his mother and wife and he was always a gentleman.

I believe Glen Parker because it took more of a man to restraint himself under the situation, to keep from hurting Bo. Bo may be a gentle person but when liquor is involved even the gentlest of persons can be aggressive. Bo was definitely out of line this time.

This story might indeed be true. If you remember last time when Bo was on the show, the producers found out he had had pervious drug charges in 2003 and 2004. Bo seems to have two personalities in a way...

Heard an interview with Parker yesterday and do believe his side of the story. He did state more is being made of the situation than it deserves, but in fact Bo did 'lose control.' Why would he lie? He has nothing to gain. Didn't Bo get in trouble for something similar before his Idol days?

I saw Bo in person, he was friendy and courtesy; I don't believe the incident occurred as you state. How do you know he was drunk. Stop trying to ruin his character and carreer. Page 6 of the NY Post was just in the news about a reporter trying to shake down a famous person for money not to publish some gossip about him, and it was highly reported that the reporter said "we ruin peoples' lives if we want to".
Bo will overcome this when his side comes out.
When Bo appeared on the American Idol last summer, he got the biggest applause over Carrie Underwood, if fact; it looked like he was the winner.
Leave a wonderful entertainer and human being alone, and get a life.

Noel, yes, Glenn Parker was on the Bills in the early 90's, when they went to all those Super Bowls. But he was also in the Giants in 2000, when they went to their last Super Bowl (they got pasted by the Ravens, if you remember... but it counts. I tend to think people forget the Giants were even in Supe XXXV because they got beaten so badly).

The toll American Idol and all these other reality shows take these people is pathetic. Come on, these people think they can walk around and do anything they want because they acheived fame on a reality show? If it did happen the way the story says, Parker should have gone ahead and done Bo a favor and knocked the rest of his missing teeth out. But, I'm glad Parker handled it the way he did...He's been famous much longer than Bo. Deal with Bo...you are a runner up!
