I'm going to file this under "I'll believe it when I see it," but
StarPulse is reporting that Hugh Laurie's character Gregory House on the series House will be without his
cane come next season. The article alleges that Laurie began to suffer back problems from having to limp with the cane
all day, and asked producers to come up with a way for him to kick the cane to the curb. Apparently the season finale
will involve House being shot in the leg, an injury that miraculously cures him. While I'm sad about the prospect of
House losing his signature cane, I'm more worried that if his leg is cured he'll have no reason to consume pain killers
all day. I want my House drugged up, darn it.House getting rid of his cane?

You might want to put this under some sort of spoilers heading. I realize that it's not a confirmed storyline, but still...

Wait... How many seasons has Laura Innes been limping around with a cane for ER? Just curious.

I love the cane and the way it's clear that House DOESN'T notice it.
While I feel for Hugh Laurie, the cane is part of the character, heck the motorcycle has a rack for it.
a "mystery shooting to solve it" sounds dreadful, at least let him decide that a new nanosurgical approach can help.. I can almost see House being willing to take the risk for the thrill of being at the cutting edge.

I like House even better when they call him Dr. Cox on Scrubs.

That might have been funny if they hadn't made that joke on Scrubs last week.

Doesn't Laura Innes use a crutch on "ER" rather than a cane? Different mechanics between the two. Besides, Innes isn't in nearly as many scenes on "ER" as Laurie is on "House". Still I think the whole "miraculous cure" thing is a bit much.

There are ssoo few entertaining shows on TV today...the reality shows are beyond boring...all the Law and Order's are alike...Lost is absolutely a jumble of supposed subtile symbols all leading to nothing etc. HOUSE is delicious...Hugh Laurie is a joke and one half...please don't change one hair on his head or I vow to throw all my TV sets over my terraces.

Well part of the problem that my girlfriend (who really is a physician) and myself recovering from hip replacement, is that House uses the cane on the wrong side. You are supposed to use the cane on the opposite side of the injured leg.
If he did use it correctly, he wouldn't have such a bad limp, he could then keep the cane.
Let the writers figure out that one.
