Wily veteran Jack manages to think long enough to reach out to Bill Buchanan, as a way to get Wayne Palmer "to safety," whatever that means right now. He's all ready to meet up with Audrey and her father, as he seems like the smartest opportunity to catch Logan and end this mess. But after telling the secretary what they have on a recording and stating their intentions, Audrey and Jack are tied up and locked away, with Heller stating that he is going to try and get Logan to resign, because what Jack wanted to do would be "bad for the country."Not surprisingly and super-MacGuyverishly, Jack manages to escape his bindings by finding something useful in his surroundings, and gets Audrey out of hers. After surprising one of the agents that was left to guard them, Jack manages to overtake the man (shocker!) and allies himself with the remaining agent. Just then, Henderson's helicopter full of baddies shows up, and they pop a few of them, but not before the second agent is shot. Remembering that he had the recording, Jack snags it from his jacket, only to end up turning it in to Henderson who has grabbed Audrey and injured her in such a way where she would bleed to death should he not help her. He turns in the recording device, which promptly leads to Heller being told to resign and being sent from the President's retreat.
Chloe's participation in keeping track of Audrey and Jack and ultimate incarceration by the CTU / Homeland folks doesn't bode well for the rest of the season, as she'll surely be needed as "eyes in the sky" for her pal Jack. Thankfully, she's got Buchanan to work with, and he has let her set up shop in his home. Now, there's a perfect storm scenario with Palmer and Chloe and Buchanan all being in one place, where Jack & Co. might end up making a last stand. Nah, this show hasn't become that predictable, has it?
While Miles and some of the other Homeland people might not believe it, I think Chloe's dropping of the story about Logan to Shari back at CTU might be the first step in getting that group to team up with Jack to take on Logan and the Henderson. This whole thing has reached a level that I don't think that this one man and one or two people in a ragtag bunch are going to be able to escape. And now that we hear there are a few more seasons of 24 coming, you'd think they wouldn't kill off all of the other characters we're familiar with, right? Well, you never know. Anyone got a pool running on who else perishes this season? And no Audrey Raines, that's too easy. What do you think, do Chloe, Curtis, Buchanan, and Aaron Pierce all make it through to the morning?

Aaron Pierce was supposed to meet Mrs. Logan outside. His phone made it, but where was he? I hope they don't kill him off. This show has an amazing supporting cast, I must say: Heller, Pierce, Novick, and Buchanan... not to mention Logan. Speaking of Logan, Gregory Itzin is doing a radio tour at my office today...

Update: Greg Itzin (Pres. Logan) is the man. He's so nice, looks regal (it's hard to not call him Mr. President), and actually a fan of 24. I might have accidentally convinced him to watch Lost, too.

Speaking of Gregory Itzin... Did anyone ever notice (particularly in one of the early episodes this season) in a close up of him, he clearly had multiple piercing holes in his ear (like three or more)... Since then it's bothered me to try to imagine President Logan with four hoops or diamond studs in his ear... I know it's silly and none-story related, but it's all I can think about whenever they pull in close with the camera ("Show me his ear, dammit, show me his ear!!)

the charactors flip too much.....heller was so conserned about beating up on his son last year..but he ties up his daughter and puts her in the middle of the action??........and did anyone else remember the prez's conversation with walt cummings when he confessed?? the prez acted like he had no clue, even though its the same plan he's in on...what did he do,,after cummings killed himself said.."hey , that sounded like a great evil plan, i think i ll take it over and run it now"

Everyone's up for grabs with the preview showing all sorts of explosions.
I think Curtis and CTU will come in with a helping hand as will Aaron Pierce. 6 more hours to go kids, the clock is ticking, and the chess pieces are in place for final moves against all major players.

it's a good thing with all the technology in this show, that something so simple as backing up the recording was never thought up. even just playing and recording it into his treo's mic would do, but nope, only in tvland is there only one possible recording.

I've turned my brains off at the beginning of this 24 season and everytime somewhat would point out gaping holes in the plot, i'd just cover my ears and go "la la la". But this episode was so rediculous even for me. The writers aren't even trying. First, with all those super-dooper PDAs, why couldn't they make copies of the audio, send it somewhere, etc.? Why the hell did they stay in the hangar instead of getting on the plane and flying the hell out of there (with the tape)? It's not like Jack and Heller are complete boobs, they knew Henderson will come after the tape and Audrey would be a big liability.

It was sort of explained in Hendersons conversation with Logan. They wanted Walt to believe he was in charge of the plan. This way the president would not be implicated, nor could Walt testify against him. Playing it clueless in front of Walt was Logans way of protecting his ass.
I too wondered why they didn't make a copy of it. Maybe the original was taken off the presidential phone archive and would hold up in court better, but still, at the least, having a copy could still be enough to get him out of office.

hey LC.....so your saying backeroff or whatever his name was [ and whatever happened to him anyway? ] that was in charge of setting this thing up, dealt seperatly with cummings and logan?? so cummings thought he was setting the whole thing up without logan knowing...but then logan would get called on the same thing?? its confusing, i hope something come's up that explains it better...thanks for your help.

Another theory: Aaron recorded on his phone the conversation between Logan and Heller where Logan admits what he did. He then gave the evidence to Mrs. Logan to fulfill his promise to spill details. The evidence that Jack gave away this episode will somehow be destroyed and Aaron's phone will come into play later.

Yes, I'm still hung up over President Palmer's death! Jack tells Heller about the tape. He doesn't believe his own daughter and the man who has saved the country a billion times? If Pres. Palmer where alive and Jack took that information to him, Palmer would have NEVER questioned Jack. He always backed him. That's what this show is missing now, someone higher up that Jack can always rely on to back him. I read an article with the actor who played Pres. Palmer. He didn't sound like he wanted to leave the show, or have his character killed off. So why did they do it? BIG MISTAKE!

Or is it? I feel like the fact that everyone's expecting Audrey to be killed off may be the reason that she's safe...because they always try to do what we don't expect. The fact that she's "too easy" may end up being why she doesn't die...or maybe I'm using convoluted logic because I really don't want her to die. I guess we'll know soon enough, right?

Even though this show is a shadow of its first season self, I must admit this season, regardless of the ludicrous premise and situations, is paced quite well and very exciting. However, I can only watch it with my brain almost totally shut off.
