Our seemingly solitary ally left over inside the President's ranch, Aaron Pierce, has now become suspicious of what is going on after hearing about the arrest warrant put up for Jack Bauer, as has the Vice President. With Mrs. Logan suddenly re-enamored with her husband, one would have to say that Aaron will probably be acting on his own unless he can come up with something really slick to get her involved in whatever it is going to take to get Logan out of office. With a ton of military plus whatever other police the government has after Jack and Wayne right now, someone's going to have to get mobilized in order to help from within, because shooting their way out is probably unlikely.
Chloe is always an asset to have on the ground inside CTU, or Homeland, or whatever we're calling it these days, but with Miles on her tail inside the building as she messes with satellites and helps Audrey escape the tracking of some agents, I'm not sure we can bank on her being the solution to all of Jack's problems. Wondering where Curtis is at this point, as his presence hasn't really been felt since the gas explosion, so I'm looking for him to hook up with Aaron and see what they can do.
I don't know why, but I have a feeling that Audrey's father might be in on the plan. He was very aware of Jack's arrest warrant, and didn't seem to raise any questions about it, something that even Hal Gardner did with Logan. Of course, he probably has access to whatever information he needs, but that doesn't mean it's not curious that he wasn't being proactive against it, given his previous relationships with CTU. With about seven hours left in this season, it isn't out of the realm of possibilities that there could be another double (or triple) cross going on on this show that we haven't seen coming at all.

I love the show, but was it not the most obvious thing in the world that the bank manager was gonna get tagged?? Should have locked himself in the vault and waited till morning.

I am deeply concerned about Aaron Pierce...he is the incorruptable man inside and as often happens in 24 the good guys don't quite make it! I would love the climax to involve the President ordering Aaron to shoot Jack and then Aaron turns the gun on the President and places him under arrest. But Jack will probably take him down himself.

I agree with the bank manager comment. He should have stayed in the vault.
I have to question whatever happened to "shoot out the tires!!!"?? I'm watching show and show and they never shoot out the tires anymore. Is that really impossible to do? Aren't these guys super marksmen?

It is a little curious that they just don't shoot out the tires all the time on this show. They can hit a guy at 80 paces with eyes closed, but no one can shoot the tires on a car perpendicular to them for some reason. I'm interested to see if Jack goes back to "apologize" for getting the bank manager killed.
"I need four neckties" was clearly the quote of the night.

Love this show. I agree about the bank manager my wife even called it from a mile away. It's about time the Secretary of Defense is back and hope he is more involved the rest of the way.

I loved the James Bond music last night.
I've been noticing the music a bit more over the last few weeks. It seems like it's being played louder and not so much as light background stuff. Two weeks ago it was mostly orchestral (if that's a word).

That was the military/national guard rolling up in the humvees, remember there is martial law and they are patrolling (Jack and gang hid earlier from them on the way to the bank). They came onto a scene where a bank alarm has gone off and find the bad guys outside with weapons (who shoot first if I am not mistaken). They then see Jack & crew come out of the bank so assume they are the robbers and fire on them also...

The guys in the Humviees were U.S. military enforcing Marshall law. They probably monitor all police frequencies and were dispatched to the scene the same as the cops.
Tom Biro-
After looking at next weeks previews I doubt that Sec Heller is involved since he says to the president "I know what you have done, I know what you are doing and I am going to stop it".
I too thought they should have locked the bank manager in the vault for his protection. This should have reprecussions since eventually his wife will be able to identify Wayne Palmer.
I think all we have been seeing of Aarron Pierce is a big setup for him to support Jack or Heller in taking the president down. I am guessing there is going to be a scene were Logan orders Pierce to arrest Heller or even Jack, but instead he will make the tough choice over what he knows to be the truth and his job as SS agent and will detain Logan instead.

Great eff-ing episode, especially the shootout in the end and the 007 music theme.
Although I think along with Aarron Pierce, the first lady is supecting something as well. THe look on her face after Logan takes the call from Henderson about Jack's location. She knows he's lying.
Where the blank is Curtis!!!!????
Again, who knew and or sold out Jack and had everyone killed that knew he was alive? And why? Did Henderson find out that Palmer not only knew of the whole nerve gas plot, but of Jack being alive as well? But why kill the people that knew Jack was alive and why not go after Jack instead?
And what are Logan's ultimate goals here? The whole nerve gas, terrorist, attack on the Russian prez were all meant to make our country more secure in a grand scheming sort of way. But now that things are heading towards FUBAR, what are his goals now?

So great,.. The Prez makes a statement that all terrorist activity has been stoped, but if you were living in L.A., wouldn't you wonder why they haven't recalled Martial Law?
And it sounds like everyone was thinking '007' for the music for this episode, but I thought it was much more "Mission Impossible" - I guess it doesn't matter.
I have a random question though. Now that we know that there's going to be 3 more seasons, would everyone still watch 24 if they killed off (or retired) Jack and had someone like Curtis, Chase, or someone else take over for him? --------------- Just curious...

I don't think that Walt knew that Logan was in on it. I think he was such a small cog in the big machine and he truly thought that they were going to have the nerve gas go off on it's way to Russia. While Logan knew that there was a bigger plan, what that plan is, who knows.
Yes, I'd still watch 24 with someone other than Jack as the star but not with the people you mentioned. Tony could have done it but not Curtis or one armed Chase.

I think that Henderson knew Jack was alive. Since we now know that he has been working for the prez, he probably sent his men to confirm that Jack was dead and could not find a body at any morgue. This is only a guess IMO.
As for killing off those who knew, he probably figured that Chloie was the only one smart enough and close enough to cover this up and Tony and Michelle were the only ones around the body at the time of his "death". He may have assumed that they knew where he was and would be able to prove he wasn't even in the city at the time of the assassination.

Great episode. One of the best of this season.
I think they're keeping Mike Novak out of the plot at this time, only to out him over the next few shows as one of the key conspirators with Logan. He's been known to get his hands dirty in White House double-crosses and he pushed Lynn down the stairs on Day 2. Also, Mike may the one who knew Jack was alive, since it is unlikely that Palmer, Michelle, Tony (now all dead) or Chloe would have outed Jack. Remember, Mike's the one that tipped Palmer to Logan's compliance to have Jack offed at the end of Day 4.
At this time, I see the plot going down like this. Walt Cummings thought the nerve gas was going to be released on a terrorist camp to facilitate military action to preserve oil assets in the Middle East and bolster the new anti-terrorism treaty between Russia and the US. At this time, I'm into thinking that this was Logan's goal as well, and that he never intended its release on US soil. This is where I think Mike is going to come out as the real brains here. I think Mike is in cahoots with Henderson and Bierko to orchestrate the events of the day in a fashion to boost Logan's credibility for thwarting terrorism and to push the fear of further domestic terror and need to expand a military attack on terrorists abroad as a platform for Logan's pending reelection campaign (sound familiar).
Let me know what you guys think.

I'm afraid that in the closing moments of the season, we'll see Aaron sacrifice his life choosing to save Jack over Logan in the midst of some excitement.
And what is up with the thread on last year's incident at the Chinese embassy? When Jack was the initial suspect in Palmer's death, wouldn't the Chinese see that Jack was still alive? Why haven't they made a fuss about it? Maybe thats why Jack is rumored to be in London next season.

I for one would be disappointed if Mike Novick is revealed to be a conspirator. First of all, it's been done. Second, he was one of the people most saddened by Palmer's death.
Judging from his reaction to the tape, I wouldnt be surprised if Wayne does something drastic *like killing Logan* by the end of this day.
