Cable was just starting to make its way into people's homes when
I was young, so my friends who actually had cable were able to watch shows like Fraggle Rock and other
cool stuff while I was stuck with network TV. This may explain why most of my younger years were spent at a
friend's house watching Nickelodeon and a little show called You Can't Do That On Television. It was this
show, I believe, that introduced the whole "slime" concept that has become synonymous with the kid network.
There's a bunch of full episodes on YouTube right now, though the quality on some of them is a bit low. Still, if
you're roughly my age and need that nostalgia fix, they're worth checking out.

I've been rewatching the "divorce" episode. There's a lot about it that surprises me - first, the show is surprisingly smart. So much of what I've seen on Nickelodeon these days is really vapid by comparison. I am also amazed that it has aged pretty well. Many people commented on how bad "In Living Color" had become when it came out on DVD. I never got that sense with this: there are lots of musical pop culture references, but otherwise it could have been easily shot today.
Finally, now that I'm surrounded by Python paraphenalia, I love the Python-esque-ness of the show, especially the opening. There were several segments where I half expected the Spanish Inquisition - but no one expects that.
Thanks for a nostalgia fix =)

Did you know a very young Alanis Morrisette had a role in the show? She played one of the kids(Alanis-I think all the kids used their real first name.)
As I recall she got slimed alot.
I loved it as a kid too. Everytime someone said "I don't know" in real life we should be allowed to throw slime on them.

I remember this show! It brings back so many memories. My sister and I used to say "I don't know" over and over again at the beach and pour water over eachother's heads. I remember them always putting their faces in the slime and opening their mouths..I wanted so badly to do the same thing and see what it tasted like.
