Seriously, I won't take her seriously. She is a total mistake! Pretty soon she'll say: "Today a Muslim bombing happened in Baghdad today. How many were killed? A:111 people B:234 people C: 683 people D:947 people". Then as soon as your know it, Matt's gonna say: "Ummm, may I 'Ask The Audience'?".

Nobody who wants the news in the morning watches Today. Those kinds of people watch the news channels in the morning.

Meredeth is intelligent, funny and charming. She will be a breath of fresh air for the Today show. When she's dealing with a serious topic she will be great and when dealing with a humorous subject she's going to shine. I'm looking forward to watching her.

I will stop watching TODAY when Katie leaves. Aside from the fact that Meredith Viera is incredibly abrasive, it's a major slap in the face to Ann Curry!

Bad choice. I was hoping for someone with more class. Maybe Anne Curry or Campbell Brown. I hope NBC knows what they are doing, I've been a loyal Today Show fan for decades, but this may be the turning point.

I think most news organizations have already lost most of their credibility with a large percentage of the viewing public.

That said, if Julie Chen can appear on CBS Early News (or whatever they call it) and still host Big Brother, I'm sure Viera can do Millionaire and Today with no problem.

Why shouldn't we take her seriously. As you mentioned in your posts there have been other examples of news personalities working a second job as game show host. During the 1950's and early 1960's John Daly, host of the popular 'What's My Line' was also vice-president in charge of news for ABC. Mike Wallace from 60 Minutes was a host of a number of game shows in the 1950's. Even Walter Cronkite was a game show host for a brief period of time.

I believe that Meredith will be a fantastic addition to the Today show. She's a woman who appears to have a lot of class.

Someone above mentioned Meredith Viera is incredibly abrasive. Huh? Not the Viera I've ever seen on TV. I think you will be pleasantly surprized when you see her on Today this fall. As a family we have enjoyed her on Millianaire for a a couple of years now. An intelligent pleasant woman who will make a good morning tv host.

NBC could not have given her enough. Its about her dream to be a news anchor. The Today show is just as much about Matt, Anne, Al, Campbell, as it is about Katie. I have followed Meredith's career for many years. I think she will be a breath of fresh air for the Today Show.
She has grace and style that not many talk show hosts possess. I look forward to her addition to the show.

Congrats to Meredith for landing the highly competitive Today Show anchor spot. Now, Meredith should give up Millionaire. She'll be making $10 million a year. Even by breaking her contract w/Millionaire, Meredith will not be hurt financially. Let someone else host Millionaire and get the same exposure that someone allowed her to get! God has blessed her so abundantly with The Today Show contract. She should share the wealth by stepping aside...don't be greedy. There is another person who has a family who deserves the opportunity to host Millionaire. I pray that she chooses to be gracious and humble enought to step aside and focus on being the best that she can be as the new Today Show anchor. Blessing to you.

I really can not see Meredith doing a serious morning show...But I think she realized that the View is probably really short-lived...That show stinks...I think she should give up Millionaire to someone else...My choice would be Tony Danza....I have lost all faith in television since they canceled his show...It was the best.

IF MEREDITH IS LEAVING ABC, SHE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO HOST "MILLIONAIRE" SHE CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS..WHY SHOULD SHE COLLECT TWO PAYCHECKS FROM TWO DIFFERENT NETWORKS? AS FAR AS HOSTING THE "TODAY SHOW" IS ONE SURE WAY OF MAKING ABC'S GMA #1.

I think Merideth is so boring! She's not very funny or witty, not particularly stlyish, she's kind of a flat liner....and absolutely no compliment to matt. I wish ann curry was taking the position...she's awesome!
