New Adventures of Old Christine: I'll Show You Mine

louis-dreyfusFat joke within the first minute of the show. Arrrgh!

Other than that, this was another great episode. This week, Burton is putting pressure on Christine to introduce him to her 8-year old son but Christine isn't comfortable. Even though I saw it coming from miles away (because they always pull something like this every episode), I still chuckled when Christine was teasing her boyfriend from the other side of the door and then she turns around and her family is watching. I think I was laughing more at Christine's grocery store/sex metaphor than anything else.

When Christine finally does introduce Burton to her son Richie, it's uneventful. And when she asks to meet Burton's kid(s), he says they'll meet when the time is right. "I showed him mine, now he won't show me his," she says, as a vein nearly pops right out of her forehead. Seriously! The pitch kept getting higher and the face tighter as she was getting upset and I found myself flinching, waiting for the explosion. When she confronts Burton (and finds out his son 'Stevie' is in Montana), the conflict between them worsens when he tells her he loves her and she responds with, "I bet ya do". Once again, ex-husband Richard (wait, didn't they agree not to spend so much time together last week?) makes Christine feel better.

When Christine goes to tell Burton she loves him, she blurts out that she wants to break up. So they do. Bummer, because I liked them as a couple. But, we're only a few episodes into a brand new show so she obviously can't find her new mate yet.

Favorite character: Matthew, the brother. I'd like to see him around for more than just some witty one-liners.
