The cast and crew of the
WB's Charmed, which is finishing up its eighth and final season, are pissed at the network that housed them
for so long. According to Holly Marie Combs (Piper), who became producer on the show halfway through the
series, the network has treated them like the ugly stepchild pretty much from day one.
Another member of the cast, Rose McGowan (who joined as Charmed sister Paige when Shannen Doherty departed after the fourth season), added that the cancellation of the show as their network and the UPN merged was the icing on the cake to the way to they were treated. McGowan said that even if her contract was renewed for a ninth season (her and Combs' contracts ended this season) she would not return due to the poor way she and her castmates were handled.
The full interview can be found on SciFi Wire. By the way, with the completion of this season, Charmed makes history as the longest running television show with female leads; it beats out the classic Laverne & Shirley by a half season and Buffy the Vampire Slayer by one full season.

People hate on Charmed, but I really like this show. It really filled the void after BtVS' early demise.

I think that the way the WB never promoted this show in all of the 8 seasons that it was on was evident to how they treated their stars. I am sure these women put forth a lot of effort to make it one of the best shows to grace the WB. They are all very talented and I wish them the best in whatever they do.

If CBS can pick up Couric and NBC pick up Varijo maybe there can be a new Network for Charmed....If HBO can deal with the poligimist communities, then I am sure there is one to deal with the Wiccan lifestyle. Have to ditto saari's comment above.
WB? Im outta here.

I agree!! They shouldn't cancel the show there are so many story lines they could still do. Unfourtunatly I read the story in SciFiwire that the girls wouldn't come back for a ninth season. I'm sure if they treated the people on the show half as good as NBC treated their stars (Friends for example) there would probably be a ninth. I'm going to be so sad when it's over because I look forward to Sunday night. Just me some popcorn and an hour to myself. The exec's at the WB have definately got there heads up you know where.
I so hope to see the girls in movie's or maybe another tv show some day. I'm sure though whatever they decide to do they will be great at it. Thanks for letting me ramble on. The WB just lost another viewer as here.

The WB should be very proud of itself in causing a rift among my family. Sunday evenings was a sacred time for them since they made sure no activites were set up during the time Charmed was scheduled to come on. They made it clear now they have no reason to stay home since the program is being cancelled.
Their actions has only helped them to loose viewers and break up a happy home. WB LET ME TAKE MY HAT OFF TO YOU AND THANKS FOR NOTHING.

Well, Charmed isn't really the longest-airing female-lead show ever. It's ending at 8 seasons, but there are other shows (Alice, One Day at a Time, Roseanne) that lasted nine seasons.

WB has lost another viewer after they leave the air. Will watch reruns till they remove them off of TNT, then bye bye to another station. Will Miss you, but Thank you for the years together. Pat

My brother & I watch a wide diversity of TV. However, "Charmed" was one show we always watched together, from day one !! The same holds true for "Buffy". The WB lets the viewers down by taking certain shows off. "Charmed" could be picked up by Sci-Fi and I've always hoped that Sci-Fi would come up with a series for "Spike" James Marsters. He is the greatest !! He has a recurring role on "Smallville" but he's not "Spike" Listen up, people, those of us who like fantasy & sci-fi, need our fix. One thing ALL the networks can do for many of us is, put ALL those reality shows on one network so the rest of us want be bothered with them !!!

Have you noticed that they will not grace the show "The Charmed Ones" a list of their own on the show list here on same page. But have to go into WB just to get them. They have Smallville,Supernational,Gilmore Girls,Everwood are listed singlely , They are so against the Charmed show and have been from day one.
There are several of us that really do like and will Miss watching the Girls fight Demons, and still have a family show too, on togetherness. Thanks "THE THREE P's". Hate to see you fly off.

I cant believe that they are canceling Charmed! Me and my 3 daughters absolutely love the show and everyone on it! I can only hope that another station would want to pick up the show so we could all switch to another network. We should all stop watching the WB and getting hooked on their shows, because all they do is take it off the air when we do and further disappoint all of the viewers. Whats the point anymore? If they dont care about their actors they certainly dont give a **** about all of us!

I am really going to miss Charmed. It is my favorite show on television. I really looked forward to seeing it on Sunday nights. I hope that a better network can see what a mistake the wb is making and pick up the show.

Hmm, I think it's a great idea to stop watching the
WB because it cancelled Charmed. But, come on...get serious
here; do you actually believe you're just going to stop
viewing WB? What about Supernatural, and other shows
I'm sure most of you love? Believe me, but
it ain't going to make the crew of WB all of a sudden put
"Charmed" back on. It is Finito, it's over! There will
be no more "Charmed". Hopefully maybe on a different
network, we'll see! But get real for a moment, it's going
to take a whole lot more than just refusing to watch
the WB. Sometimes it takes for one to take it to the
extreme to get these guys to keep the show on the air.
But, I can see already it's too late huh? At least for the
WB.

Wow hard to beleive its been 8 years. This was a show my daughter and I sat down and watched several times over the years. I will admit when I read that Wb treated the show the way they did I was surprised. It was a hit show that was enjoyed by so many fans over the years.
We watched the witches grow into their powers and time and time again watched good defeat evil. We will continue to watch the reruns and wish that we would be able to watch and see what future preminitios come true.
Would of love to seen the other other halloway sisters have children and watched then come into their powers. It would of been great to see
Its a shame that the network treated them like they did and lost such a great show. It would be nice if you saw another network pick up the show and give the show the respect it deserved. To be honest I do not watch other shows on the Wb because there shows seem to have had no interest for me.
I guess I will be one of the many who will keep watching the reruns on TNT and hope TNT keeps showing good since and great judgement unlike the WB has shown
