Criminal Minds: Somebody's Watching

Criminal Minds; CBS; Mandy PatinkinWow, I loved this episode. It didn't even feel like I was watching Criminal Minds. It was more like some kind of pseudo-Melrose Place with lots of FBI agents.

This was the second time this season an episode has prominently featured Dr. Reid in the storyline. He's by far the most interesting character in the show and I hope this trend of making him the focus continues. This guy is the king of the nerds right now. He works for the FBI and he gets to make out with hot, young Hollywood starlets. I'd like to shake his hand.

Gideon and Reid are in LA teaching the local cops about how to catch serial killers, when surprise, someone starts whacking people close to an up and coming actress. Gideon decides to sequester the girl in her mansion and Reid gets put on watchdog duty. He takes advantage of the alone time and makes out with her in the pool. But to his credit, he keeps insisting that what they're doing is wrong while he continues to kiss her. He's so smooth.

The threat turned out to be a close friend of the actress: a college roommate who now worked on the actress' latest movie. Once again, Reid got to show how badass he. Maneuvering like a ninja, he whacked the gun out of the assailants hand and forced her to the ground. For this one sequence, I felt like I was watching deleted scenes from Walker, Texas Ranger.

I hope nothing happens to Reid for the season finale because if something happened to Gideon, Reid could definitely carry the show. I'd like to see them do more focusing on single characters for future episodes though. An episode where Morgan or Hotch are the prime focus would probably be very good.
