Richard Dean Anderson returning to Stargate

Stargate SG-1, to
be exact. He's about to start filming the 200th episode of the series, titled, appropriately enough, "200."
It's about the team being consultants on a TV show about a stargate (hmmmm...). Anderson will also make several more
appearances in the next couple of seasons, on both
SG-1 and
Atlantis.
Wow, 200 episodes?
Who would have thought when this show premiered that it would become the longest-running sci-fi series in American
television history?

As I recall, the writers celebrated the 100th episode with a plot about a TV show with a stargate (Wormhole X-treme). The episode had lots of great inside jokes about the show. I expect more of the same with this episode as well.
So I'm a geek, sue me.

You know this is why he left the show in the first place. Boom the greatest character of all time leaves a show... the season goes on to be great. Bring back said character who left show... season just became the holy grail. I am thinking that there will be alot of "this SciFi program is brought to you by ..." that night.
In case its not clear... I am glad RDA is coming back. He is awesome.

It's great that RDA will be back for the "historic" 10th season and 200th episode. However, it's really sad that the writers would waste the 200th episode on a rehashed recap show. I mean, how many series make it to 200 epsidodes? This is the best they could do?

Great character, shows dropped off without him. I wonder how they're gonna tie him into Atlantis though?

It's not a replay show if that's what you mean, its supposed to be a really out there show, supposed to be hilarious like wormhole x-treme was.

RevJohn.... #3 is correct.
This will be a clip show.
The basic premise of the episode is that Wormhole Xtreme (from episode 100) became so popular on DVD that they are making a movie out of it (ala Firefly) The SG1 team is brought in to help pitch ideas for the show, thus the clip show appears its ugly head again. How exatly RDA will be used in the episode will be interesting for sure.

No where does it say that the 200th episode is going to be a clip show. The 100th episode (itself a sequel to a previous show) was NOT a clip show. Instead the writers poked fun at the show within the premise of the fake show.
From Gateworld.net "So it starts with a read-through," Executive Producer Brad Wright said. "But the vignettes spring from suggestions by our characters, and material in Martin's script which is kind of outrageous, too. And we jump all over the place -- I mean, we are going all over the place in this story. It's out there ... in a good way! It's fun. Hopefully it's funny. Hopefully it's very funny -- if not, it's at least fun."
That doesn't sound like a clip show to me. It might have scenes that resemble stuff that's happened on the show, but it's more than likely going to be done with a comedic twist.

Well, I seriously doubt it will be a clip show, but if it is, I'll agree its a waste of 200. It'll be easy to tie RDA into the show, as he'll just be recounting past experiences.

I think that even though RDA is only got a small cameos in the upcoming seasons. I feel the addition of Ben Browder makes up for alot of RDA's absence. Now I am not saying its a perfect match but its pretty dam close. I enjoy SG1 and Atlantis an hope they go for another 200 episodes.. So RDA being back is Good but we need to look at the current cast and what they bring to the table.

I'm happy Richard Dean Anderson is back.
He made the show what it is now. Thanks to him there are 200th episodes and a 10th season. I know he left the show afther the 8th season, but he's the one who realy has to come back forgood!! Season 9 was not so good I do hope season 10 will be better. I aslo think Richard has a small cameo in this one. I know they have a new cast a new team but the only team is the old team. Richard Dean Anderson, Christopher Judge ,Amanda Tapping ,Don S Davis ,Teryl Rothery and Micheal Shanks. I loved the 8 seasons with them. And they could have bring the Ori in sooner. I can only speak for myself but producers of Stargate bring RDA back forgood!! Dont get me wrong I wish the new team as it is now lot of success. But I'm looking forward to the 200th episode absolutly! And I'm looking forward to see the episodes with RDA in Stargate Atlantis. Like he said I have not the faintest idea what I have to do there but we will see.
