For two episodes, Tony has been in a coma. And for two episodes we were treated to some
of the best The Sopranos has had to offer us. I know there has been a lot of uproar and many were unhappy
about how slow last week's episode was. But c'mon, this is good stuff - we're finally getting an analyzation of Tony's
life straight from the inner workings of his own mind.
I've loved all the "dream sequence" episodes and after last night's installment, I think the last two episodes have edged out my previous favorite "The Test Dream." For those in the same boat as me, I'm sure there are many others out there who have watched last week's episode a few more times and tried to pull some of the hidden meanings out.
All that being said, I'm terrible at doing this... stuff like this always goes right over my head. But some folks over at The Dogmatic Blog have far more insight and time on their hands than I do. A few commenters made some great points about the strange purgatory that Tony was trapped in. Check it out if you need a bit more explanation or some fresh ideas. And anyone with theories of their own - please leave them because like I said, I'm terrible at this.

here's what i think might happen...
kevin finnerty + bhuddist monks + carm talking to melfi about the crap her kids and her have to go through = the sopranos reincarnated as the finnertys in the witness protection program by the end of the series.
i kinda hope not, but there's gotta be a reason for all this finnerty crap with the monks.
the last crazy dream he had convinced him he had to kill blundetto, so maybe this one is telling him he has to turn rat?

Maybe the whole Sopranos thing was a dream for Tony. The last episode he wakes up--like Bobby Ewing--and we see that the entire mod lifestyle was just a dream.
That was a very controversial but unique thing that Dallas producers did; meybe it could work again 20 years later??!!??

One of the things I caught was that I thik if Tony had walked into that "reunion" he would have seen everyone he killed/ordered killed. The shadowing woman at the door was probably suppose to be Gloria. Just my opinion. Did you notice that one of the monks is also the doctor who shined a light in Tony's eye this episode and previously. Very interesting indeed

Tony will go into the witness protection program under the name Kevin Finnerty. He says his whole life is in that briefcase. He will eventually lose the briefcase. In his dream, he has Alzheimer's in which you forget the past. Tony will become a snitch since all of the other snitches are dead. They need a new one. Not sure why he will do this, but the clues are there.

I think the show will end with the revelation that it has been a dream all along! In fact, the dream of him being a salesman is in fact his true profession. If not, that would be a pretty good ending. Huh?

I don't think people as high up as Tony can go into protection-- the Feds are trying to put the boss in jail, not the underlings. Might be wrong though.

The dream...I think that subconciously, he didn't want to face the fact that he was dying and on his way to hell for his sins...as his wife had told him before AND to him while he was in his coma. If his mind would have dreamed about him as the actual Tony, the coma would have been much rougher and he wouldn't have survived it. Long story short...the dream = coping mechanism.
