Boy, they love to cry over there at Apprentice
central. Last week, Andrea had
a crying jag when Brent returned to the apartment after his boardroom session. This week, Charmaine had a bit of a pout
when she realized that she was 'this close' to being fired. I'm really not too sure if these are people that I'd want
to run a business; they seem to cry at the drop of a hat.
Anyway, let us be off to the sideshow that is known as The Apprentice.
First, George was back this week, but Carolyn was gone. In her place, straight from a date with her Dad, was Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka. This episode's challenge was to create a billboard for a new cereal. Tammy was Synergy's project manager and Charmaine was leader for Gold Rush. Charmaine's main goal was to prove to Trump that she was a worthy candidate. Synergy goes for the 'next generation' approach with a father passing down his enjoyment of the cereal to his young daughter. Gold Rush goes for the 'it's so good I can eat a ton of it and get really heavy' route.
But that's not really important. What's really important is our friend Brent (Lenny was very quiet this episode). In real life, one can hope that Brent is a qualified attorney, because they certainly make him look like an overweight doofus in this show. He wants to make the presentation to the business, the rest of the team shuns him. His ideas are tossed away, his graphic suggestions are ignored. All they want him to handle is the clothing for the presentation.
Clothing? Brent? I've seen better clothes on some hobos (Yes, I said hobos)!
Anyway, while Brent continues to fume about his (lack of) duties, both teams trudge ahead to complete their tasks. Unlike last week, they both do a pretty decent job with their projects. In the end though, Gold Rush won with their tasteful display of a fit woman gulping down piles of cereal. Their reward was to work with a premier New York chef to create meals. Frankly, I'd prefer swimming with the sharks like they did in the last episode.
Back at the ranch, the members of Synergy try to determine who needs to be fired. I'll give you a moment to figure out who it is. Go on, I'll wait. Unfortunately, they could not find a feasible way to get him fired since they didn't let him do anything. Sean actually mentioned that Brent could make it to the end of the interview process because no one gave him a task. Brent is pretty much prepared for all-out war.
In the boardroom it is all Brent, and not in a good way. While most of the team agreed that Tammy was one of the best project managers in Synergy's short life, Brent complained that she stunk as leader. Trump and his associates thought that those were strong words and took the big guy to task. When Brent said that Andrea was a liability to the team, Trump ask him to reconsider his statement since she made considerably more money than he did. Ivanka was the most direct with Brent, telling him that the Synergy team members did not like working with him at all.
In the end, without even calling them back to the boardroom, Trump fires Brent. He and his associates believe that Synergy will be a much better team without him. Brent, on the other hand, feels that the team lost their true leader, which was, um, him. I truly hope he used his exiting taxi ride to stop somewhere for intense anger management therapy.
Now that Brent's gone, we concentrate on the next most interesting candidate -- Lenny. Tune in next week, folks!

This is one of the episodes I wish I could go through the TV and smack people. How dumb can a bunch of smart people be? You see a billboard for .10 seconds, why have a ton of writing everywhere?!? I was so glad the second team brought it up...I couldn't sit still.
Honestly, Synergy is no better off without Brent, they haven't lost any of the last tasks because of him...they just had bad ideas.

Did anybody else think that Ivanka's face was just insanely shiny during the boardroom? I kept wondering what was wrong with her. She looked like waxed fruit.

I was hoping that Brent was just misunderstood...until I saw the taxi cab interview. He's going to kill somebody in his office one day soon. I thought he was going to explode in the back seat.

Let's hope that in typical Trump fashion they shuffle these groups. Otherwise, there will not be any really good challenges, with great ideas... In past seasons I have watched with interest as the challenges caused people's creativity, and intelligence to shine.... I agree the only thing shining was, well read the comments above.
I did like the winning billboard, but the challenge itself was just boring, and although I am thankful the mean whiny boy is gone, I am tired of seeing a bunch of crying executive wannabes. Anybody with me out there?

I am very curious as to how Brent got on the Apprentice in the first place. Was he a ploy to get people to watch the show to see what he was going to do next? So glad he is gone.
