Was this episode better than last night's pilot? Yes.
Did I laugh at all during the episode? Yes. Did it relieve the worries I had that it was just an uneven mix of Arrested Development irreverence and typical FOX sitcom lameness? No.
The Loop is one of those shows that can seem kinda funny if you don't watch
an entire episode. If you were to just turn on FOX 5, 10, or 20 minutes into the show, you're bound to hit upon a
clever line or a funny scenario. Like tonight, the scene where Sam is on the plane and under the covers he's
"shaking his pedometer" (which really should become a new euphamism for you know what) and is arrested by
airline security. Or the line from Mimi Rogers: "You knocked her up? I told people you weren't gay." But it's all just...forgettable.
I can't imagine wanting
to tune into this every single week (though I will because I'm reviewing it.) The show had two episodes this week, and
next week moves into its usual Thursday at 8:30 time slot. That means it will be up against Survivor (after March
Madness), American Inventor, and Smallville. I don't see many people sticking with this show.

Um, people actually watched it tonight? Doubt it. I wasn't even aware of it.

Man...this pilot was a total crash and burn. Parts of it were funny, but overall, it was just trying too hard to garner a laugh, from the sardonically intelligent secretary to the undersexed vamp of a VP.
Then again, it is FOX....

I quite liked it, especially the ending when the bro got his eye poked out from that girl, hilarious. Liked the pilot as well...
Maybe it's all because he just drives a Scion xB... which I own (and an xA). lol

I don't know, I'm kind of digging this show. You're right Bob, in that you're not really laughing for a half hour, but there are enough laughs in the half hour that it's worth watching. More laughs than maybe 80% of the sitcoms on TV IMHO.
For example, the bit with the slogans for Jack Air last night were hysterical. A bit childish, sure, but I was still laughing out loud, and that's the point isn't it? And that scene also showcased who I consider the breakout character - the head of the airline, played by the same guy who played Bookman the library cop on an early Seinfeld ep. He's brilliant.
Sure, it's not Arrested Development. But nothing is, or ever will be. I loved AD as much as anyone, but it's gone (maybe). Get over it everyone!
Too bad the show will suffer time slot death soon enough.

Personally, i don't really think it's worth talking about.
Like the show, or don't like the show, keep in mind that it's on Fox. So it probably won't be back next season.
Does anyone remember Life On A Stick?
It was on fox for about a month last year, before they canceled it. It was a good show.
but back to the subject. The Loop is a decent show, it has it's moments, and I'll be dissapointed when it gets the axe. lol, but not TOO dissapointed.

I thought episodes following the pilot were very funny. This is light television that I actually laughed out loud at a few times. I was intially attracted to it because I live in the Chicago Loop and like to see the back drop scenes along with the constant comic banter.
