Maybe I was expecting way too much this week, with Veronica Mars being on a break for a while, but I found tonight's episode a bit dull.
I'd read somewhere that this episode was going to mark a huge turning point in the season, though I'm not all that sure
what it was. Was it Hannah's discovery that her dad really is into things with the Fitzpatricks? Or maybe Terrence's
surprise locker in is garage? Also, while it was great to see Mac again (they really need to put her in more episodes), Wallace and Weevil were sadly missing.
The mini-mystery this week wasn't all that exciting. Not that there's anything wrong with it, of course. It just
didn't spark me as very creative. Didn't we already have a blackmail episode last season? We already know the writers
are more creative than that.
So the big news tonight was that Terrence has "what looks like"
explosives in a locker in his garage. I'm sure that'll either be explained very soon or show to be some sort of setup.
The way Terrence is acting, it sure seems he's not involved with the bus crash, at least directly. I'm still saying the
Mayor is involved; he's been mysteriously absent in this show lately, hasn't he?
Oh, and Lamb is one smarmy
dink, isn't he? When is he going to get what's coming to him?
[Added @ 11:27PM:
OH! I post-thought I forgot to mention one theory I had after tonight's episode. Remember that Veronica found a
message board post from "MizzP" (Peter Fererre) that said there would be a "outing of all outings in
Neptune?" And then Peter dies on the bus? Could that outing be the Mayor? Hmm? Seems too coincidental to mention
that.]
Quote of the episode: "You're like rich dude kryptonite, Veronica."

No kidding about the mayor--especially since Terrence just happened to mention him after Keith gave Lamb the CD. The episode was not amazing, and I'm not too interested in Terrence as the killer. I'm still not -really- interested in the bus crash either--you could feel Lilly's loss in every episode last year, and this year, aside from Meg, whose death was totally wasted, I can't even remember who was on the bus. Still, Veronica had some good scenes with Jackie and Mac (Mac's make-up looked kinda heavy), and the previews for next week look great.
Tired of Hannah--I liked that storyline a lot better when it seemed like Logan was playing her for the info on her dad. Also, I think I preferred Logan's sad sack routine with girls when it looked like it was genuine. Third time around, it's manipulative, not cute, man.
Love the gambling PSA at the end of the episode. Thanks, Veronica Mars! Guess I shouldn't bet the house tonight, huh?

The locker with the explosives was in Woody Goodmans(the mayor) garage. Jackie said he lets her dad park his cars there.

Actually, I thought the PSA should have been something like: "Feel like blowing up a bus full of innocent children? Please, get help now! Call 1-800-I-AM-WOODY!" ;D or something to that effect.
There were some great one-liners: "Dick! You banged me!"
And I want to know who exactly pitches a tent when Dick and Logan take trips and stay out in the woods overnight.

Mac might become a regular next year - in the talk show he did on the UPN website, he said they wanted to promote her up to the main cast as she'd be a good character for the college stuff they've got planning, IIRC.
And I'm wondering if it's all connected with Woody's incorporation plan for Neptune somehow - perhaps discrediting the Sheriff's department figures into it in some way? Or am I only mentioning that because I want to see Keith and Lamb working together on something?

I would much rather see Mac as a regular than Jackie. She's horrible!
Yeah it was the mayor's hanger so the odds are they are the mayor's explosives. You would think Veronica would remember that, being the super sluth and all.
Still a new Veronica Mars is better than no Veronica Mars at all. :) I was glad to have her back. The main story was boring and I did miss Wallace but at least we are doing something more with the bus. I think I heard they will wrap that up soon and start the mystery that leads us into Season 3 this year. Probably at the college so we can get into Veronica: The College Years!

Jackie did say the Mayor let her dad use it. I'd imagine it was a case of Woody saying "Hey I don't need it, here you go Terrance" so the Mayor never checks in on whats in there.

I'm with Tammy... A new episode is better than no episode at all. That being said, I kinda liked this week.
I was hoping them showing the clip of Dick and his case of mistaken.... er... identity.. would come of something other than just the closeted baseball player making fun of him.
I like Hannah. I mean, I like her in that way that there's no way should she should be with Veronica's Logan (Has everyone on this board discovered that I'm the biggest male "'shipper" on the Web? Donna/Josh, Apollo/Starbuck on BSG, Bones/Angel on Bones). But I like the ambiguouity of did Logan know who her father was or not (and I'm leaning in the "not" catagory), but the boon that's fallen in his lap. That being said, Jessy Schram is INCREDIBLY cute. I'm just saying. Her on the same show with Kristen Bell and Tina Majorino?
I'm with everyone with the opinion that this year's mystery doesn't have the same emotional... "bigness" of last year's. It is, however, seemingly a more complicated mystery. Though, I wished they'd given us more of a reason to care. Maybe holding off on Meg's death... I don't know.
I'm really just glad the show is back.

Dorv: I honestly am shocked that anyone would think there is any "ambiguity" as to whether Logan knew who Hannah's dad was when he pursued her at the carnival. OF COURSE he knew and that's the only reason he went after her.
I thought Logan's !@#$-eating grin at the dad when he leaned down and looked at him in the car window was a dead giveaway that Logan knew all along. And Logan pretty much admitted to the dad in their confrontation last night that he targeted Hannah as a way to get leverage on the dad. I didn't think it was intended to be "ambiguous" at all that Logan has been playing Hannah all along and using her to get to her dad. The only thing that's ambiguous is whether any of his mock-sincerity with her has any tinge of real emotion at all, and whether he's perhaps starting to actually like her, even while he's playing her.

Lynn: Fair enough. I still just dont' see it. Maybe I need to go back and rewatch "Magic Mountain" again. I think part of my problem was that I didn't recognize the guy when Hannah got into the car until someone mentioned it on the boards.
I need to rewatch both episodes, I guess. Hopefully TiVo still has them.
I guess I just want to see the best in Logan's character. He's got a bit of Han Solo in him, IMHO. Though, that's just an opinion, and not a very good one, at that.

I agree that Logan knew who Hannah's father was all along, which is exactly what Veronica realized when she saw the two of them holding hands and Jackie said, "Oh, her dad is a plastic surgeon." There's going to be a smackdown soon!
I thought the ep was only okay but I was very glad to have a new one at all. I'm a bit confused about whose explosives they are, or if they were planted (maybe), or if they were even explosives! We never saw them and Lamb never told Keith exactly what the investigators found.

Well of course Logan knew who who Hannah's father was, and he did 'targeted' her for tha reason. But I also thik he likes her : - despite all his 'bad guy' attitude, he 's nice and can be caring, he seems to feel bad about her being sad. - I have the episode on tape, and as i was rewarding to watch it, I thought "whoua, Veronica and Logan are back togethers ?!" Did anyone else notice that sometimes Hannah really looks like Veronica ? And that she acts a lot like Duncan's veronica.

I THINK I KNOW WHO THE KILLER IS!!
Here is my theory: MizzP talkes about an "outing of all outings", The guy that may have sent the bus over also worked on Dick and Beaver's parents' cars. And we all saw how Dick reacted when the baseball team made jokes about hime being gay. Also Dick's ex-girlfriend turns out to be the lesbian that was black mailing all of the other gays in town. Now me being a gay man myself, growing up it is not uncommon for gay guys to get a lesbian to be his beard ( straight cover) and they would both seem "normal" so that no one would know that they were queer!
Also when they went to the bus park it was Dick that said "Hey the bus stinks lets get a limo." He also talked to and got all of the important 09'ers to come with him, leaving the poor kids and Peter Ferreer (MizzP) on the bus.
We already know that Dick comes from a fucked up family between his mom not wanting Dick or Beaver to interfer with her new family, and their Dad being a lying, theif that has left the country.
Also this is the second "Gay" episode of the year which is way more than they had last season and as we all know nothing on this show is just happenstance.
So is it possible that Dick had curly set up the explosives to get rid of Peter (MizzP) because he had dated Dick? And was it Dick the whole time and the other crap is just a distraction from the facts like last season, when everyone thought it was Logan that killed Lilly and then her brother Duncan but it turned out to be the last person we would have all though of Mr.Echolls!

Darius -- That theory makes a LOT of sense. The only issue I have with it is, why would outing Dick be the "outing of all outings?" Is he that big a deal in school? I'd maybe go so far as to say maybe Dick is having a thing with the Mayor, which really would be big.

Dick's ex-girfriend (Madison Sinclair) is NOT the same girl (Kylie) who was blackmailing the gay kids. Kylie was the cheerleader played by the Laguna Beach chick.
Madison Sinclair is not gay, she told Dick that she had moved on to older guys because she was tired of "quickies" and now preferred "longies."

How can no one have noticed that the name on the fake address that Kylie put in her blackmail note was Rick Santorum, the right wing, pro-life, anti-gay senator from Pennsylvania?
Sorry this is so late. Just watched this episode tonight!
