The promos had given away a bit of a tease as to a big decision that would be coming up this week, and it wasn't quite as minor - no matter how much you dislike Lynn - as it seemed. And yet again in the long history of 24, we're shown another bunch of federales who have decided that they really really really want to take over the CTU crew because they're not doing something right. Yawn. The whole Kim plotline seems to be going nowhere, as this week proceeded. She's pissed at dad, dad's worried about her, Chloe's worried about both of them, Audrey feels bad for Jack's situation, Kim's new boyfriend is C. Thomas Howell, and Bill Buchanan is locked in a room by himself. Oh, and Tony is still really peeved that Henderson was responsible for killing his wife.
I gotta say, I definitely appreciated the "foreshadowing" of Lynn and the redshirt in the secured room, with Lynn taking a chewing-out after admitting that this whole situation was his fault. You knew, without a doubt, that he would own up and bite the bullet when Jack called with the bad news, but seeing the security guy have to call his kid for the last time was pretty harsh. I wonder if Lynn would have done the same had he not been really responsible for the nerve gas getting loose. I'm going to have to say no, frankly.
I'm looking at the cast and trying to decide if anyone outside of Kim, Jack, Chloe, and Curtis have really been around anymore, now that Tony has gotten himself killed when Henderson wakes up from the "coma" he fell into while being dosed with truth serum. Talk about death toll. I don't even want to keep track anymore, the way things have been going (I think we had three this ep - Tony, the redshirt guy, and Lynn), and you know it's not going to get any prettier. The concept of martial law in Los Angeles is not going to bode well for the cityfolk, nor the Logan clan. At the end of the day, will this really help VP Gardner? I'm not so sure.
Looking back, I really want to know where Diane and her son are, or if they just vanish from the landscape for some time. I'm also thinking that Kim and her boytoy might not make it out the door, as you know that the CTU crew is going to put up somewhat of a fight against the Homeland Security team that is on its way in. I expect Buchanan to look to Jack to make things happen, but he might end up neutralized himself. The one thing I really want to hear about now is what was up with Palmer and his secrets - that's got to make its way back into the discussion soon, right?

Oh Tony. My only hope is there were no silent beeps and he's listed in imdb up through April 10. But who knows, NYTimes article sure makes it appear as though he's really gone.
I forgot pretty much everything else due to Tony, but someone brought up the fact that Henderson and the psych guy might be connected somehow, since Henderson was helping Kim through her problems.
Who knows, but Tony was the only reason I watched all of season 4 because I quit during season 3. Come on cut me some slack.
Between BG Friday and 24 tonight, I'm pretty beat down. Good episodes but tough. I don't see Shield cheering me up either.

I'm shaking my head trying to figure out what to write about this season so far. Bottom line: I won't stop watching. Good job to all involved...I'm a hooked viewer. Just try to keep the air times consistant please (fox!)my life is busy.
Random observations: I didn't care too much about Edger, friends of mine did though and I hope to see this actor back on the Sopranos this season. But, man..I really liked Lynn and I don't get to see this character develope and deal with his issues? I also was really waiting for Tony to kick some ass beside Jack. Now it doesn't seem it may happen.
This show continues being very enjoyable to watch, It's great television.
I'll say again that every one involved is serving the show very well.
I won't stop watching!

Man am I glad Lynn is dead! Good thing his little blunder killed almost everyone at CTU! Stupid hobbit! Well, he's gone so that's nice. Also, this episode was the only episode we have seen one of those red-shirted men actually have a life outside of dying, (that sounds funny). Now that someone has brought up that the pshycologist and Henderson might have a connection, that seems quite possible. That's a good pick up.
But, does anyone have insider information on Tony? He can't be dead because if any deserved a silent countdown it would be Tony. So, he can't be dead! HE JUST CAN'T!

There are 11 episodes left. This has been non-stop since the season premiere and it keeps getting better and better. The shock of Tony's death in the final 5 minutes is one that proves that anything can and will happen in the world of 24. It was a fitting death, seeing that Henderson did escape and Jack will avenge everyone's death from this season by bringing him down. This is a true Greek tragedy with Jack being the tragic hero standing amidst all his friends' deaths and his daughter's conclusion to not want to be a part of his life. And I thought last week was an emotional episode.

Well, I saw Tony's end coming. What I didn't see coming was Henderson faking a coma. Does anyone think that the guy 'torturing' him was in on it?
Good riddance Kim. It looks like we can put her filler scenes behind us now.

Did anyone else wonder why, if they could hold their breath, couldn't they just hold it and run out the door?

i dont think tony is dead ... just yet
bad way to finish off a main character ... plus see this:

"The whole day was made up of scenes between Mia and me, which meant a lot of money lost, so the producers were kind of losing it..."
we are yet to see the scene with mandy...

Lame-o ep. this week IMHO. Wait a minute now --
HOLD YOUR BREATH THROUGH TOXIC GAS??? C'mon! Even a RESIDUAL amount of this fast-acting death agent would turn you into soggy, writhing toast, wouldn't it? But, no (sigh!) I guess my basic chemical warfare knowledge is misguided. Even so, another blogger hit it on the head: hold your damn breath and RUN! What's the problem?
And, what's with all of this touchy-feely stuff?
Okay, okay! I KNOW this sort of thing has to happen in order to break up the death-a-minute action, but still... The dialogue, esp. bet. the psyche, Jack and Cloe. OY!
I agree w/another blogger: Good Riddance Kim! She's a lame character. Sorry (and sort of surprised) to see Edgar buy it -- he was a rough-edged good-hearted fellow. I thought he and Cloe had great 'moments' and lots of quirky tension. If Cloe ever dies, though, I'm going to kill the producers, Jack Bauer style.
And I can only hope to God that Tony is, in fact, gone forever. Talk about a match around a powder keg! -- he's screwed up SO MUCH, selfishly endangered CTU and is such a shallow (yawn) actor. Nice twist with the Henderson fake out -- PLEASE LET HIM BE DEAD!!! If not, JACK, PLEASE KILL HIM!! Regardless, Henderson will suffer severely for this -- I can't wait.
I don't quite understand the situation at the White House. Is there a sitting President? Don't get me wrong, I think that mushy Logan is cast WONDERFULLY, but with all the mayhem having already taken place in L.A. (terrorists at the airport, mall poisonings)it's a wonder he HASN'T had to declare martial law, if he even has the spine to do it. Absolutely LOVE him and the Mrs. Mike (Chief of Staff) should be President! I just LOVE seeing how FRUSTRATED he's getting. VERY well played.
Despite this emotionally sappy episode, I'm hopelessly addicted. Jack's got some MAJOR ass to kick. Bring it on.

They would release the gas into the OUTSIDE world if they did that....I think. Besides, do we know for sure it's a hop, skip, and no jump from the sealed rooms to the exit?

The the Fox 24 website has Tony listed as deceased, and the episode guide flat out says "Tony dies in Jack's arms." As much as I want to see Tony alive, I just don't see it happening.

I have a hard time believing Tony is dead because they didn't silence the clock at the end like they did for Edgar and other main characters. Plus they have filmed scenes with him and an actress we haven't seen yet. I think Tony has nine lives and he has five or six of them left!

Why was there not a silent countdown? I'm really confused by that. Even Edgar got a silent countdown. Tony deserves one as much as Jack would if he died...why didn't he get one?

Does anyone else think this season is the silliest yet? I like the show - one episode and I'm in for the duration - and I'm willing to forgive a LOT - but I can't help wonder if the decision to kill off half the cast and (presumably) start off in a new direction is a ratings move.
I guess we all knew rudy (lynn) had run his course. I wish they'd knock off that wiener president and put Jean Smart in charge, tiresome as she is, she's at least deeper than the last opinion that made an impression on her.
And, are they are pushing the limits of this 'nerve gas' a little too far, or what? Most nerve agents propagate as droplets, do absorb rapidly through skin and eyes, and would not hang in the air for an hour like that. Why did the terrorists go to all the trouble to steal that stuff, when there are industrial pesticides, or good old cyanide, that would work as well as it seems to?
When Jack came back from his excursion outside the safe room, the 'gas' would be in his eyes, hair and clothes, between his fingers and inside his cuffs. So how deadly is it anyway?
And why did Lynn go back to the holding room, opening the door a second time? And why was he being 'held' in an unlocked room with a functioning phone?
Oh, yeah, and Fox, are you listening? Some of your shows are more expendable than others. Why can't we have -both- House and American Idol?

I don't know that the silent countdown was directly associated with the death of Edgar. I think it was intended as more of a solemn respectful gesture for the catastrophe at CTU in general.
And as much as I hate to say it, I think Tony is gone forever. Even though I could see his demise coming from a mile away, especially at the hands of Henderson, I do have to say that it was more of an injustice to have him die in the way that he did. I mean,.. he deserves to die in a good fight scene. All they had to do was draw out the conflict between him and Henderson and turn it into a brawl in the ICU area. Then Tony could have died a warriors death. But the way they did it made Tony look weak and pathetic.

I can understand wanting Tony to die in a blaze of glory, but in their own way, he did die a hero. He couldn't kill Henderson. He put the safety of everyone ahead of his selfish need to kill him.

I think next season, Jack will wake up and Tony will be in the shower.
Since season 2, Kim has been a waste of time. Every time she's on the screen, it's useless. I hope she walks out the door and never returns. But, I'm sure the Loc Ness monster will impede her journey out of town.

Tom - you appear to be fixated on Diane and her son, but for a show that has let Kim stay alive at even her most stupid moments (Season 1, Season 2, Season 3, etc), Diane should be fine.
BTW, I have wanted to see Kim die since the cougar incident and everytime she puts herself in harms way and lives eats me alive!
Also, why do we need to have every bad guy attached to the US government? I know that there are some honorable and decent US government workers who are not represented by the VP, this weenie President, Lynn, and just about all of Palmer's entourage! Stop attacking the fine folks who help us and concentrate on the real issue - a world that allows Kim to live while everyone around her dies!

I do have a feeling that Kim will die in this season. Jack will lose everything he has, then he'll just leave. What better way could they end this season than having Jack holding Kim in his arms, like he held his wife at the end of the first season.
