New programs for March 5-11

Things are really starting to heat up
on the networks this week as seven new shows grace the schedule. Most notable, Dennis Haysbert returns to television in
The Unit, which is produced by genius playwright David Mamet. ABC also
launches its new part-scripted, part-improvised comedy,
Brothers and Sisters,
and the race-swapping reality show,
Black.White, makes its debut on FX. Oh,
and Lil' Kim gets her last 15 minutes of fame before going to the slammer.
- Pros Vs. Joes, Mondays @ 10pm on
Spike (premieres March 6)
- Ordinary people face off against pro athletes like Karl Malone, Bo
Jackson, Jerry Rice, Jennie Finch, etc. This is for sports fans with big mouths.
- The Unit, Tuesdays @ 9 on CBS (premieres
March 7)
- Dennis Haysbert returns to action-packed television, this time as the leader of a
special ops team that goes on risky missions across the globe. The show is about the missions, but also about how the
families at home handle the stress of living in secret. Produced by David Mamet.
- Another part
improv, part scripted comedy. This one is about married life, children, and having relatives nearby. Sounds like
Everybody Loves Raymond, but with more material. There's a huge ensemble cast.
- 8th &
Ocean, Tuesdays @ 10:30 on MTV (premieres March 7)
- Ugh. The real-life,
cutthroat world of modeling. Watch beautiful people pose, pout, and get drunk in Miami.
- Black.White,
Wednesdays @ 10 pm on F/X (premieres March 8)
- A risky reality show where black and white
families trade races. The black family is made to look white and vice versa. They enter each other's worlds and
experience the pros and cons of being another race.
- Top Chef, Wednesdays @ 11 pm on Bravo (premieres
March 8)
- Hell's Kitchen with cooking school students.
- Lil' Kim: Countdown to Lockdown, Thursdays @ 9:30 pm on BET
(premieres March 9)
- Reality show that follows Lil' Kim during her last two weeks of freedom
before going to prison for lying to a jury about a shooting. She's going away for 366 days.

Having watched the Pilot for The Unit some months back, I can say with confidence that I beleive CBS has a winner here. Dennis Haysbert + Action/Drama = crazy deliecious

The Unit is also produced / written by David Mamet and Shawn Ryan (of The Shield fame) so another reason to watch that.
