seeing the sly smirk of comedian Jay Mohr. Instead, Anthony Clark, an okay stand-up comedian and star of the horrendous
CBS groanfest Yes, Dear will be taking over hosting duties on the fourth season of Last Comic Standing
when it kicks off this summer. I watched the first couple seasons of the show but ultimately gave up on it when I could
no longer justify watching a bunch of mediocre comedians arguing over who sucked the least. Having another lame
comedian host the show pretty much keeps it off my "must watch" list permanently.Anthony Clark will host Last Comic Standing

This is coming from a comedy nerd. While I agree that Yes Dear is far from the greatest sitcom, I have to give props to Anthony Clark. I remeber seeing his routine years ago and he is a good comedian. His routines are not what you would expect from his role on the show. If you read Jay Mohr's book, you would find that the two are good friends. I can speculate that Jay suggested his friend because he couldn't do the show for whatever reason. Call me a glass half fulltype, but I will hold back until I see the show. Clark is a seasoned veteren of the scene, so he will know what it's like to break into the business. Which is what this is. Not every comedian is a Lenny Bruce or Bill Hicks. Give Clark some slack. Don't pass judgement until you see the show. Yes, he is going to conform to network standards, but maybe we'll be able to see a liitle of himself without network standards. I love the show, and I will miss Jay Mohr, but I'll give Anthony Clark the benefit of the doubt.

I agree. Yes Dear sucked but Clark was super funny before he started that show. I remember seeing him on HBO's One Night Stand many years ago. Very few comedians are as lucky as Jerry Seinfeld with having a great show. Very few...

My understanding is that Jay wasn't really wanted back because he failed to be a "company man" by voicing his opinion when the show was sh*t on during season three. Those who remember the history know that NBC got the producers to scramble up a third season to fill their many programming holes in Fall '04. The best they could come up with was season one vs. season two due to having no notice (and more Vos and/or Mordal is okay with me anytime). They ruined what was a well-formatted and funny show through no fault of their own, then when nobody watched, there was the finale fiasco where NBC refused to run the final installment, and after extended wrangling, it aired in some off time slot on Comedy Central (who had second-run rights). Mohr spoke up about this travesty on behalf of the fans, and in doing so, I would contend that he alienated the NBC folks by refusing to march in line.
Mohr was executive producer (and I thought also co-creator), and probably still has that role in a some capacity. If he and Clark are friends as OP says, and he has Jay's sign-off, then my hat's off to him and I wish him the best in hosting another installment of one of my favorite reality programs. If Clark got the job because of sour grapes towards Mohr from NBC, I call shenanigans and think that sucks.
