Arrested Development rumors abound: AD being picked up by Showtime?

Rumors are rampant that
Arrested
Development has been picked up by Showtime for a 26-episode order. Page Six in the
New York Post floated that story this morning, in fact (which was
replayed on Salon.com).
However, that's all they
are right now: rumors. Fellow Squadder Ryan j Budke found out from his source at Showtime, who is close to the
negotiations, that they are still in talks about the show and nothing is official yet. There may be an official
announcement later in the week, but that's about the only information we've been given.
Don't worry: if word
comes out that
AD has been officially picked up, we'll have it for you.

Then I'd have to subscribe to Showtime... and then they'd flag it to not be recorded by DVRs, leaving me SOL... or is that just HBO that pulls that crap?
...I'll wait for DVD, okay?

Has Fox even officially cancelled it yet? I know it won't be coming back on Fox in any way, shape, or form, but it seems to me that until Fox officially brings down the axe on the show, they won't announce that it is being produced by another netwrok. Did I miss something?

Unfortunately I won't be paying for Showtime to watch AD, fortunately Showtime's DVDs are not outrageously priced like HBO, so it'll all work out in the end.

It will be interesting to see how AD can turn around from the ending they had this season if they do get picked up by someone else.

Wait, so the source said there might be an official announcement as early as this week? Or is that just a general statement?

Why bring it back? So it can jump the shark and we can lament about how good it used to be?
Showtime should leave it alone.

Jim, while I don't speak for all fans of AD, I know I speak for many when I remind you that even the lamest episode of AD is better than the best episode of practically every other comedy on TV today, with the possible exception of My Name Is Earl and The Office. Your mileage obviously varies.

Don't forget that unlike Fox Showtime is on the iTunes bandwagon, so good times for non-subscribers.

Always good to hear a little hope. Hopefully the AD crew is blowing them all over there at Showtime.
Umm... forgot to say "away" again.

1.)i think...fox oficially didn't cancel the show so it can sell the rights..2.) there is way too much smoke for there not to be any fire 3.) remember information is power. the source at showtime that has not aknowledge that something is final, may want to leak the info themselves. 4.) how can anyone talk about this show is in danger of "jumping the shark"... anyone who says that must be an imposter AD fan or an executive at showtime trying to drive down the price. finally..i think the most endearing aspect od AD is that the audience identifies with the family paradigm..i mean isn't great to know that no matter how screwed up your family is..the Bluth family is much worse!! Ahhhhhhhhh

Like one of the other commenters, I too would subscribe to Showtime in a New York minute if they did indeed pick up AD. Just hearing the theme music makes me laugh cuz I know that what follows is gonna be side-splitting. Am I alone in my belief that Gob is possibly one of the top 5 funniest TV characters ever? Please, Showtime, PLEASE do this good deed for those of us who know platinum comedy when we see it!

Aaron, me too about the theme tune, but how about when "The Final Countdown" starts.. It is like, "prepare for a double dose of funny".
