The season's Survivor seems to be evolving into the
story of two families, the dysfunctional Casaya and the harmonious patriarchy of La Mina. As today's episode begins
over at La Mina, the alliance of four guys is deciding whether or not to let Sally the Spear-dropper go with them to
the final five. Over at Casaya, the men hunt for fish and snails while the women practice yoga, sleep and
let the fire fall to ashes (oh and Bobby's napping too). Aras reads everyone the riot act. Aras is beginning to
question his alliance of idiocy. Meanwhile Cirie is keenly aware of how fragile the alliance is and is pretty smart
about positioning herself as a strong second option. The reward is for a bathroom and the challenge involves assembling a floating puzzle. Once again the challenge is really close. For a tribe that is pretty disordered, Casaya manages to man up when the prize is on the line. They chose to send Terry to Exile Island. Good move, without their head the tribe is a flailing body not sure where to move first. They can't keep the fire going, they are starving and listless. Terry's exile gives him a chance to look for the hidden idol which he does and easily retrieves it. It seems like he is pretty unstoppable at least until the merge.Over at Casaya, the group decides to store firewood and towels in their new bathroom hut but not before Bobby goes in to "drop a deuce." Bobby is clearly one of those guys who delights in grossing out those around him with details of his latest intestinal adventures, he comes out of the bathroom rubbing his belly and saying he feels ten pounds lighter (from eating snails?). Later, Shane picks a fight with Danielle while Cirie manages to suppress a grin.
The immunity challenge involves balancing on a beam in teams of two with buckets of water to fill up a large bucket. They work through a rainstorm and Casaya wins although once again it's a whisper-close race. The dysfunctional family lives to ride another day.
At La Mina, Austin lobbies for Sally the Spear-dropper which bums out Dan who has an alliance with Ruth Marie. At tribal it seems that the alliance was not of one mind after all but Ruth Marie stills ends up going home. Which makes Dan sad. Poor Dan.
My Survivor of the Week vote goes to Cirie. She's managed to keep her head and her sense of humor as her tribe squabbles and is a far stronger player than she is given credit for. Plus, her grins when her tribe bickers make her very fun to watch.

Tonights episode 2-23-06 was wrong!Casaya cheated!!!The challenge had Casaya when even though Danielle pulled the rope to get ahead to let down the flag. That was cheating? Why didn't Jeff catch that?

Terry followed the clues and one of them said he now has time to contemplate "why" he was sent there. With the other clues, under a rock, buried, above the shoreline, Terry, after seeing "why" in quotes, saw a Y shaped tree and searched around it and found it.

Buried under a rock at the base of a Y shaped tree ... reference Misty's clue (clue 1) where Probst said something like "ask yourself 'why' you were chosen"

I was suprised they should viewers that he got the idol, it kind of kills any suspense for us.
One thing I wonder is what happens to the next person that goes to Exile Island? Is there another idol? They can't really say it was found already, because that out's the guy before them.

Terry Rocks!
Even if you don't like him...finding that idol was a stroke of genius.
I am just hoping he was smart enough to sink or bury the idol box and glass, and fill the holes back in.
Best not to leave evidence to the next resident of Exile Isle.

I was glad that they showed us when Terry found the idol. As viewers, we have always been clued in to what was going on except for when Gary found the idol. It will be really interesting to see if anyone finds out that Terry has it (Probst seems to be leading them on) and if they are able to devise a good plan to force him to use it. My feeling is that he seems to be doing so well right now that he might not even need it for awhile yet.
I also wondered what would happen to the next person sent to Exile Island. Will they get another clue? Will there be some "Sorry - Try Again" idol buried in case they do solve the clues? That could really hurt Terry if they do. I also agree that Terry should cover his tracks but I bet production helps out with that. It would be hard for him to clean up broken glass. Why did Terry tell them he only spent 2 hours looking? That would be a red flag to me if I heard that because I would have spent a lot more time looking if I was out there with no one to talk to and nothing to do.
Very glad to see Ruth Marie go over Sally. I think Sally definitely worked hard enough at the challenge to save her butt even though she has yet to show any real strategy. Maybe she could pull something off to turn Austin and Nick against Dan and Terry. That would be great!
Can't wait til next week! Looks like La Mina gets sick which could mean another tribe member out...

Aargh!!! The worst team is winning. Cirie, completely lacking in athletic ability (sitting your overweight bottom on someone does not count), manages to stay in the game by pulling a rope. This was a win-win situation for her. If they won, she would be perceived as a key element in that win. If they lost, she could blame the people carrying the water. Hello, a player is a negative if you constantly have to shield him/her by exclusion from the challenge or place the individual in a 'water boy' position.
Cirie will sacrifice the strength of her team in order to preserve herself. That is a good strategy if you have already made it to the merge. However, her team still has a way to go before that happens. Her goal is not to bring her team to the merge in the best shape possible, but to cripple it if they lose. I am guessing that her strategy is to make it to the merge and the end by being so bloody worthless that no one would waste the time to eliminate her. There is a difference between being lazy/untalented and being lazy/untalented with a strategic mind. Cirie is no Johnny Fairplay or Gervase.
Bobby...where to start? What buffoon goes against the wishes of his team and contaminates the site for the towels? Was "dropping a deuce" so important that he could not respect the team decision and go in the woods? I am guesing that he did not want to be told what to do, on national television, by people from different backgrounds. This is the sign of an individual. There is no "I" in team. He deserves to be kicked out, but will be kept in due to his physical ability. The only way he will be kicked off is if he plays a major part in bungling an elimination challenge or his attitude kicks in.
Shane will grow stronger with each passing week. Remember that he is basically a recovering drug addict. Eating basic food (no McD or BK here), exercising (challenges), breathing clean air, and basking in sunlight will make him a new man. Plus, he can gain a sympathy vote for what he went through if he makes it to the end. Any contestant on the jury that was/knew an alcoholic, nicotine fiend, or drug user will be swayed in his favor.
