The 2006 New York Television Festival

NYTVF 2006Now in its second year, The New York Television Festival is a gathering of writers, producers, directors, and all sorts of industry folks who eat, breathe, and sleep television. The main goal of the festival is to do for TV what Sundance has done for independent film - awesome idea, right?

Submissions for original television pilots are being accepted now and right through to the beginning of July. You can find out everything you need to know about submissions at the link below. I had the chance to attend some of the screenings last year in the fall and it was great stuff, especially because much of it will never be seen on broadcast TV. It truly is a great showcase for television programs that would otherwise be unheard of. Check out that link for a list of winners from last year's festival or just to read more on what it's all about.

So if you're going be in the NYC area at all this year, I suggest checking out the website to see when the screenings begin (no dates are listed yet, but last year the festival didn't kick into high gear until the fall months) and try attending some of them. It's good stuff, trust me.
