Yesterday..ooh, doesn't seem so far away with tonight's Grey's Anatomy. Hard on the
heels of an emotional, long-held-secret-revealing Desperate Housewives, I
thought I would burst from the sheer amount of raw emotion thrown at us. It's all laid out, there on the table tonight,
and, wow, we're really opening up old wounds (and I'm laying on the double entendre a little thick, hmm?).
I feel
like a total heel for saying so, but McSteamy - a.k.a. Mark, Dr. Shepherd's best friend and wife's lover - he's totally
hotter than Derek. I am so not surprised that Addison fell for him! And his introduction, just one of a series
of witty yet emotionally charged scenes, shows that the Grey's writers aren't taking a pass after last week's awesome episode. Was this one
better? Nah. But it wasn't at all a disappointment, with a little surprise around every corner and a shocker
at the end. Let's just say, all you George fans out there? You got a little bit of yours today.
Were you gritting your teeth at the TV along with me when the previews showed what seemed like Derek hitting George for talkin' to his wife? And were you giggling with glee right along with me when it turned out that Derek punched his once-and-former best friend over a steamy handshake with Meredith? Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
During the highly-charged scenes between Meredith and Mark, even the one at the end when it's obvious that Mark is too far gone for Addison for anything ever to happen between the two of them, I felt dirty, betrayed by Meredith. How could she respond so to him? We all knew who he was, and how bad he was for her. Come on, Meredith. Flirting with him is just plain wrong.
But of course, nothing happens between Meredith and Mark, and nothing that much happens between Mark and Addison. But it's there. The tension is palpable, and we're left wondering - who do we really want to end up together? Izzie and Alex, Cristina and Preston, these relationships are easy and automatic. They feel right, they're funny and sexy and eclectic and perfect. But with Meredith, Derek, Addison, George, and now Mark: it's all confusion. One minute you're sure Meredith and Derek should never be together, the next you're in love with their star-crossed love. Addison you pull for one minute and puh-lease the next.
And then. You see her in the elevator with Mark and her husband, and her husband leaves, and despite the fact that you're still angry at her, for the affair, for coming to Seattle Grace, for fighting for her husband, for not fighting enough for her husband: all of the sudden you just want her to be happy. And you realize that's pretty darn near impossible.
Thank the powers that be that Cristina and Dr. Burke continue to love one another. It keeps everything right with the world.
And the world is suddenly thrown so not right. Because - it seems - Meredith sleeps with George. As I'm yelling, it's a dream, it's a dream! Isn't it a dream? at the television, my husband is skeptical. He thinks it's real.
Maybe it is. I love George, really I do, but this is one where I never pulled for the underdog to win the girl. D'ya really think it's going to work out, guys? George and Meredith? I just shivered with dread as the scene ended to credits. It's not the way I was expecting the hour to end, that's for sure.

George deserves better than rebound sex. I too was hoping it was a dream rtaher than the heartbreaking nightmare it's going to be.

That episode was crazy. I couldn't get over George & Meredith...WHAT? And I'm with ya on McSteamy's hotness. I'm not sure I could choose him over McDreamy, but he's still easy on the eyes.
I actually have a McDreamy vs. McSteamy poll over at http://www.givememyremote.com

I hate Meredith now. I've been not-liking her for a long time, but now I am firmly in the hate camp. What I -expected- to happen when she reached for George was her to hug him and cry on his shoulder. What she did, I think, is totally out of character.
Then again, who knows what is in character for Mer? She is totally inconsistent.

I love George, he's the most hilarious and kind characters on the show and for that reason I hate the implication that he sleeps with Meredith because she SO doesn't deserve him. Seriously. Hopefully if they do/did sleep together he'll realize that she's just not worth it and moves on.
I'm SO sick of the Meredith/McDreamy thing, I wish Adison would just let it go, clearly the man doesn't love her and if he's not willing to fight for her, to get her back then he doesn't deserve her. I realize that she was the one who cheated but I don't friggin' care. McDreamy and Meredith kind of deserve each other. They're probably the two most selfish characters on the show. It's all about their pain and their suffering and their problems. McDreamy was wrong to get back together with Adison. He's just doing it to make himself feel better and so he can convince himself that he did try everything to save the marriage when in fact he's not really doing much at all. He's constantly thinking about Meredith and not giving Adison a chance so he should just let her go.
I pretty much watch this show because of all the other characters, George, Bailey, Izzie and Christina. I wouldn't mind if McDreamy and Meredith would just go away entirely but I guess with a show called Grey's Anatomy, you are very unlikely to get rid of the one named Grey.

Based on next week's scenes, it looks like Meredith comes to her senses next week, but George is going to be so hurt, because she knows she slept with him because she had a bad day and needed to be needed. Now I am mad at her because George is so nice and she should have not used him that way.

I have to give major props to the casting and writing on Grey's. We all know the story, we are not supposed to like Mark or Addison, they are the bad guys. But, wow, yes, McSteamy is right. And poor torn Addison! I thought she would just take the easy way and go to the bar to be with Mark, but it shows she wants to fight for someone who may not even love her anymore. Bravo writers and actors involved!

I disagree, Samuel. While I'm not saying Mer is particularly likable, or that she should have slept with George, you have to remember Goerge is a big boy. He went to Mer alone, in her room, late at night, when she was feeling vulnerable. He knows her history of using sex anaesthetically. I"m not saying he was taking advantage of her, but I am saying he should have had sime inkling that that would happen. Hell, maybe he's just trying to get her out of his system. As for her, I think her using sex this way is in character. She avoided Mark, but there was George all of a sudden, so sweetly declaring his love when she's feeling low. It makes sense to me.

So, if I hadn't seen this episode, I would have no idea what would have happened in the hospital...you know, where the show is based. Great review. (rolls eyes)

Maybe I have a bias against McDreamy, but I just don't like the character and would love nothing better than for Addison to dump him and become a strong, independent woman without either McSteamy or McDreamy. I think it says something about the writing of this show that I feel more sympathy for Addison than I do for McDreamy -- it's also interesting that most of the senior medical staff seem to like her more, as well. Richard's opinion may have changed, but then he's an adulterous lout himself. Break them up, put him with Meredith, and let Addison stand on her own.
By the way, do neurosurgeons make $2 million a year! Damn, I should have listened to my mother and become a doctor.

The average salary for a neurosurgeon is around $438,000, which is higher than for most other specialties. Of course, most medical students will not even get the chance to become one since it's competitive to get into a residency. Keep in mind that the malpractice insurance premiums for that specialty and for obstetrics are the highest of all the specialties. Forget your mother; do what you want for a living.

I officially declare this show my favorite show. George and Bailey are the best (last week's "Stop staring at my vajay-jay!" line was classic). And this week, George trying to tell Meredith at lunch she looks pretty was the best. As much as I like Izzie and the other guy (I can't remember his name) I hate that she went back to him. And as for McSteamy vs. McDreamy - I'd take a hall pass for McSteamy ANY DAY over McDreamy. Hopefully he'll be on more. And more shirtless scenes - just a glimpse last night was not enough.

Robert: Nobody said this was a review. In fact if you look at the filing information at the top:
Filed under: Drama, ABC, Programming, OpEd, Grey's Anatomy
Its an OpEd, not a review. I actually don't like it when most of the bloggers here do a straight recap of the show. I come here for the commentary. I go to TWOP if I want a recap:

McDreamy is the new and younger hot George Clooney. TV needed another great Irish personality. I watch Grey's because of him and the rest are average at best.

I think Cristina is overrated .. why was she so puffed up in the last scene with Burke.. Burke anyway is to good for her.
Mer is out of control .. she is just a needy person.. how can somebody be a doctor with such a low self esteem..
The cases seem weirder and weirder each week .. and although I liked(A LOT) show earlier but now I think with all of them sleeping with each other so randomly its becoming like one of the soap operas more suitable for afternoom time slot.

I'm hoping that George was having another fantasy dream. Kinda like the dream he had last week in the shower with all three girls. I'm really pulling for a dream, but I think it really did happen and I think George is really going to get hurt.

I had some serious changes of heart and felt really bad for Addison once McDreamy told her he had never forgiven her. He's not the guy for her anymore...he's going to make her pay for her mistake for the rest of her life. I want to say "Go and Give Dr. McSteamy a chance", but first I have to wonder, what made Addison leave him and go back to her husband? Does McSteamy only want her because he wants to take her away again from his former friend? Also, Addison has been pretty damn nice about Meredith. I don't think I could be that nice to my husband's old bedmate...espicially since she still wants him and is almost waiting in the wings for Addison's marriage to turn sour.

About the rumor one of the interns is leaving...it's got to be Alex, they set it up last night with McSteamy telling him to come to NY. Wonder what the logic in leaving a hit show is, or maybe he doesn't have a choice....guess it's been done before though lol
I hated the McDreamy punch. I seriously doubt a suregeon, neuro or any other kind, is going to slug anyone and chance ruining his career.
Am I the only one who doesn't feel a bit sorry for Geroge? lol
