According to TVGuide.com, CBS has
shelved Love Monkey after three episodes. It will be replaced by the new edition of The Amazing Race.I've got to be honest with you; I'm a bit surprised about this. I'm not really sure what the ratings for the show have been, but they couldn't have been so bad that CBS decided to pull the plug so soon. Usually creative shows like this get a little more of a chance to develop and find an audience.
Yes, the show had some problems: the dialogue was sometimes mumbled to the point of incoherence, the narration was irritating, and it seemed like Tom Cavanagh's character could do no wrong, seemingly solving all his problems by the end of each episode (I mean, last week he proved that not only is he a great A&R guy, but a fine music video director and editor, too!). But the show had enough going for it that it deserved another chance. Maybe we'll see it after sweeps are over.

It wasn’t that the ratings were bad (though at the end they were) it was that they were in decline. Here are the numbers…
First Episode: 5.9/9
Second Episode: 5.1/9
Third Episode: 4.4/7
That’s even below where 48 hours was when it was in that slot (the week before Love Monkey premiered 48 hours got a 6.0/10)
The drop off is also an issue, last Tuesday here are the CBS ratings…
8PM NCIS: 10.1/15
9PM Criminal Minds: 8.3/12
10PM Love Monkey: 4.4/7
Love Monkey loses almost half its audience.
I honestly think it was more a case of a show that didn’t fit the network it was on but CBS was still justified pulling it and I doubt we’ll be seeing it again.

Now this can join "Eyes" on the list of shows that I loved that were killed before it had a chance to blossom. So sad...

I think it was matched up with the wrong shows. They should have switched it with CSI:Miami which would fit better with the NCIS, Criminal Minds block. Love Monkey would have followed much better with CBS's Monday night comedy block; the show is essentially a more dramatic version of "How I Met Your Mother".

I'm not too suprised this show is struggling. I'm a fan, but after every episode I end up feeling a little dissapointed. I'll be sad to see it go, but I won't miss it that much.

I'm just pissed that they pull it the week before the episode with Paul Schaffer and the Ed Sullivan theater in it. Bastards.
Then again, according to TiVo and Yahoo! TV, there's still two episodes scheduled for broadcast. Hmmm...

Eyes? Just Eyes?
Love Monkey, Kitchen Confidential, Firefly, Wonderfalls, Eyes, the Inside, Reunion... The list goes on and on and on... Fox generally is the one that doesn't give shows a chance, but I figured CBS would give this more of a shot than just three episodes.
I actually like Teddy Geiger (The musician who played Wayne). Not at first, but the music grew on me (and I'm not generally a fan of that genre)

NOOOOO! I need my Judy Greer fix! Quick, queue up my DVDs of "The Specials" and "Arrested Development" Season Two!
Everyone else on the show was pretty okay too. Better than "Ed," certainly.

Wow, royal screw up CBS. Didn't even give this show a chance. It was really starting to develop.
This show just didn't get a fair shot in the time slot it was given either.

It's my fault. It aired at a bad time, so I downloaded the 3 shows. Poor Tom being cancelled from the great show Ed, and this up and improving show.

I just finished watching the first episode and it looked pretty interesting. It'll stay on my record list.
But I didn't have any of these mumbling problems that some people reported. Maybe I'm just used to hearing mumbling.

Don't Take Away My Priestley said...
There's times as I watched that I thought I'd hate Tom Cavanagh, or his character, and the "surprise" gay jock and black friend to add some soul were a little cliched at this point, but overall I was really liking the show anyway, and I was happy to see Priestley even looking a little worse for the wear.
I thought I was making better TV choices too, I had just dropped Lost, and I actually made a point of watching this at 10 which is way past my primetime.
Love Monkey gets shelved, then you see a preview for Two and Half Men. I really wonder what's going on over on the other side of the screen sometimes.

So disappointed, love this show. I really think CBS is being too hasty. Hopefully they will see they light and after sweeps it will be back. Honestly...if they can keep that show Rockstar INXS till the end, can't they keep this one a little longer?????

This was the only show we watched on CBS. Fresh and fun.
It was not the right program for CBS- too corporate.
It needs a network who believes in it and can nurture it.
Only 3 shows and the cast was coming together.
