How I Met Your Mother: Zip, Zip, Zip

robin; barney; how i met your mother; cbsThere's been a lot of people saying that they want to see more of Robin and Barney hanging out, because they think it would be funny and they want to see those two crazy kids end up together. I don't mind seeing them together, but I was never sure I wanted them to end up together before tonight. It was absolutely hilarious, and Barney makes some very valid points. The two of them together were funny as hell, and I can't wait to  - hopefully -  see more as this group comes together as friends. One of the greatest lines of the night came from Robin after Barney accused her of throwing herself at him all night: "I was doing the opposite, I was throwing other girls at you." Classic. This show gets better every week. On with the show!

The episode started after Ted and Victoria had spent 48 hours alone together in his room. You know what that means: giggidy! Yea, actually giggidy didn't happen. Both Ted and Victoria decide to take it slow, since they've both had some really awful relationships in the past. Ok, so it was mostly Victoria's idea, but Ted digs her so much, that he decides she's worth the wait. After waiting 'til almost "the deadline", Victoria realized that she'd be out of town when it passed, and they decide to take advantage of the empty apartment, since Marshall and Lily were off celebrating their nine year anniversary. Marshall and Lily were actually in the bathroom when the two lovebirds got home, and not wanting to interrupt Ted's special moment, stay in there the entire night. They go through a rollercoaster of emotions, worried that they no longer have any "firsts" left as a couple, before realizing they just reached a new level of togetherness, as Lily was forced to "tinkle" in front of her man. Barney and Robin spent an entire day hanging out as "bros" before he tried to put the moves on her. That was when Barney realized Robin had feelings for Ted. After some quick pleading on her part, Barney promised not to tell Ted as it was part of the "Bro Code".

This was a very Ted-lite episode, and it worked surprisingly well. It's not like they could do this every week, and I certainly wasn't sick of him or anything, but the lack of Ted was as refreshing as that Tic-Tac someone offers you that you didn't know you wanted. I think Marshall and Lily are one of the healthiest relationships on TV and I love the way the writers continue to explore them together. They have a "been there done that" attitude toward most everything that Ted's going through, yet the writers keep coming up with situations that show how much they love each other. All in all, another great great episode. This is hands-down the best "sitcom" on television right now. Let me know what you think.

Barney-isms of the Week:
"The only reason to wait a month to have sex with a girl is if she's 17 years 11 months old."
Freeze-frame high-five
"I'm birthday-suiting up."
