Ever
wondered what Klaus the goldfish would look like as a black man? Neither did I, but I had never really been posed that
question before. I think if someone asked me that I would have wondered... Well, whether you've had those sick thoughts
before or not, you got the answer to that question during last night's episode of American Dad. I have a feeling that American Dad is hitting it's
stride, which is probably not a good thing. The show is going ok, but it's nothing spectacular, and far, far short of
it's potential. It's always going to be the second banana to Family Guy. It's
not a bad show by any means, but American Dad will never be as good as Family Guy. On with the show!Most of last night's festivites took place because Stan received a bonus for being one of the best liars the CIA employed. He received a check of $20K for his (in)actions on the stand in front of Congress. In typical Stan fashion though, he kept all of it for himself, spending it on completely frivolous items. Glow in the dark rake, motorized fork, rocket boots, cash jackets, I know these are certainly things I can't live without, and neither could Stan. This money certainly couldn't have been more appropriately allocated towards his wife's desire to start a new company, could it? Naaahhhh.... Francine however stole some of Stan's money to start her dream muffin kiosk anyways. Stan, all alone at home and unable to cook for himself, makes a deal with Klaus to give him a new body. Although the body was from the lead singer of an Earth Wind and Fire cover band, Klaus still puts it to good use by immediately incapicitating Stan and making a beeline for his dreamgirl, Fran. Stan eventually breaks free, and goes to rescue Fran. He arrives just in time to throw himself in the path of large crystal indian that surely would have killed Fran.
Good episode, but not great. Unfortunately, that's what I've come to expect from American Dad, so it was right on the money. Let me know what you think.

I haven't caught American Dad lately, and this was a decent one. I think the show's biggest problem is its perceived spot underneath the shadow of Family Guy. I hate to draw a direct comparison, but it's a lot like the Simpsons/Futurama situation that ultimately got Futurama cancelled. Now, looking back, it was a bad move because Futurama stands on better legs today than Simpsons. I don't see it going down the exact same way with FG/Am.D, but I do think a lot of unfair comparisons get made. It's a different show with a different theme and even a different formula. I'd be very interested to hear Seth McFarlane's take on these criticisms/comparison.

Wow...the author of this article seems to be unwilling to accept that "Family Guy" post-resurrection sucks now and that "American Dad" has taken its place.
This "American Dad" episode was HILARIOUS. The Miss Piggy joke, the Congress joke, the condom jokes, all classic...apart from those "we're killing time" scenes on "Family Guy" which feature long, drawn out scenes of repetition (Stewie torturing Brian and Peter's celebration song).
It's very hard to take this person serious with this bias that's being harbored. Family Guy is DEAD now. Seth McFarlane has invested his genius into "American Dad".
