Dr. Phil's next victim? Paula Abdul.

Why does Paula Abdul continue to set herself up for mean jokes from Simon Cowell? This time she's going to be
featured on a Valentine's Day special edition of
Dr. Phil where the two try to figure out why she's been
married two times and is once again single. One of the problems, according to the press release for the show, is that
Paula has a hard time being with men who haven't reached her level of success. [Insert Simon Cowell jab here]
After she and Dr. Phil have dissected her relationship issues, Paula will choose one man out of ten to go on a blind
date. That date will be filmed, of course, and Dr. Phil will also dissect that. Why can't
The Smoking Gun do an expose on this man?

I like Simon's honesty. He does know the business. My only concern is his constant comments about a person's weight. Such as his comment about him hoping they would have a bigger stage this season. While not overweight myself, i was still mad about that. But i do get tired of all the judges being so harsh on the sixteen and seventeen year olds. They may be young, but some of them have great voices and deserve to go on! I'm soo sick of watching great singers get rejected because of their age while older mediocre singers make it! It drives me insane!

hmmm...did paula want to be analyzed by Dr. Phil? Or...was this his brainchild? Why can't he leave people alone. OH YEAH....I FORGOT...he's got a perfect little marriage...with perfect little robin and his perfect little family are here...TO SAVE YOUR DAY! Come on...back off. She's a successful woman who I'm sure lots of men can't handle because she is so successful...and she loves her career. Being in that sort of business is hard on relationships.

I think that it is stupid for anyone to be in Paula's personal life and for everything that she has been has had happen to her she has earned some privacy form the media. I think that Paula and Simon should get over their problems and go out with each other.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE THIS IS HOLLYWOOD. IT'S ALL AN ACT. EVERY LINE IS PROBABLY SCRIPTED. THERE HAS TO BE "THE MEAN GUY" THE SWEET INNOCENT VICTIM" AND THE USELESS FATSO ON THE END. OR NO ONE WOULD WATCH WHO IS GOING TO BE THE BIGGEST MORON OF THE WEEK. COME ON PEOPLE, YOU REALLY CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS REALITY!

I like Simon. He is honest, and he knows how the music world works. He tells these kids what they need to hear. Anyone who can sing THAT bad should not be auditioning (they just want their 15 seconds of fame), and he gets so frustrated because it's a complete waste of time.

I think Paula Abdul is a very lovely and talented woman. She has had the worst of luck when it comes to love and relationships. But who hasn't? I think her private life is her own business; people should stop trying to figure out what is best for other people!

The fact that our socierty is concerned with a star's love life is degrading. Who the @#*& cares who she's dating or not dating! As for Simon, some of these losers on American Idol must be retarded. Simon is just doing his job, keep it up Simon!

Paula is lovely. She doesn't need everyone in her private life, unless that's what she wants.
I also think Simon has his right to say what he wants. If people are terrible, someone has to tell them eventually, and that person might as well be Simon. The poor guy just wants people to know that they suck if they do. He's just being honest.

I doubt any of us really care who Paula is dating. The question is WHY does she sit there week after week being verbally abused? She makes an easy target for Simon to critique and question how much 'brain power' she has or at least how much she is using.
Think, if you will of Candice Bergman, Jodie Foster or even CHER taking such a load off this little man!

Paula doesn't set herself up for jabs from Simon. Its all just an act between the two of them. Its part of the show.

I think the whole thing with the judges on Idol is a big show. It's ridiculous how Randy and Paula keep pounding Simon. Simon is right, there shouldn't be so many terrible singers there, they know they can't sing. It is a waste of time.

I like American Idol in spite of the craziness that sometimes happens. Those ear-mangling auditions are so funny and they are almost as good as the regular show....Rock on American Idol.......Susan

Too bad there aren't more people in America that are as 'cut-to-the-chase' and honest as Simon.
As for paula, she IS and always WILL BE classier than all the people that find it necessary to degrade her. She's an angel!

Simon is the only judge who tells it like it is. Randy's insipid comments are annoying..."Man, I was really on with that," or "You were going for something there !"???? And, Paula gushes over everyone...."so nice to be in your presence," "Oh, that was too perfect!"
It's no wonder Simon makes sarcastic comments to those two. They're a joke.

I feel that FOX knew Simon, Randy, and Paula's personalities were before they were signed on to judge. This is 5th season and if the network or the stars were really that bothered with Simon, there are ways to control him. 1) the lawyers would hold him to a very tight rein or 2) FOX would fire them. Do I think Simon crosses the line sometimes? YES, but obviously not far enough to infringe on legal or personal feelings, otherwise something would have been done. Simon may be a little rough around the edges and may show the lack of social graces, but he is what he is, he's accepted by the Network, and he is a success in spite of it.
