After an exciting bit of televised football this
weekend (or not-so-exciting, depending on what team you were rooting for), we now know who will face off during Super
Bowl XL in Detroit, this February 5th: the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Seattle Seahawks. Since the Super Bowl is one of
the most watched events on television, it only seems fitting that we do something here to honor that tradition, while at
the same time giving something back to some of our readers. To do that, we're going to give away some newly printed TV
Squad T-Shirts to four lucky winners in a "Super Bowl squares" game. Not sure how the game works? Read on.
Here's how the game works. A
game board is drawn up with 10x10 squares. Across the top of the board is the name of one team, and to the left of the
board is the name of the opposing team. The names of the game players are put into the game boxes in a random fashion.
Once all of the squares have been filled with names, the columns on the board are numbered 0 through 9, though their
placement is random. The same goes for the rows.
See here for an example of how the
board would look (minus contestant names, of course).
The numbers beside each team name represent the last
digit in the score for that team. For example, if the score were 14 Seattle, 3 Pittsburgh, the contestant who's name is
in the square under the '4' of Seattle and the '3' of Pittsburgh would win.
We will give one T-Shirt away at
the end of every quarter of the game (the T-Shirt image is to the right; green on black shirt). If your name is in the
box with the corresponding score for the quarter, you win! We will then contact each winner for your mailing address.
In the event that you win more than one T-Shirt, you can be a nice guy and offer it up to another contestant, or keep
it for yourself -- the choice is yours.
To enter, all you need to do is leave a comment to this post
mentioning either your favorite or least favorite aspect of TV Squad -- if you simply leave a nonsense or one-word
comment, it won't count. The first 100 people to comment, following those instructions, will get a random spot on the
board (you can only enter once). Once the board is full, we will update on this page with the names filling the
squares, though with no numbers assigned to the squares yet. Then, the Friday before the game, we will update the board
with the numbers.
Confusing enough for you? Here's another description on how this game is usually
played. Also, if you see that we've reached 100 comments, don't let that stop you from commenting! There's a chance
someone didn't read the directions here fully and aren't qualified for a square. Also, if we get 200 elegible comments,
we'll open up another pool alongside the first one!
Good luck!

I love the "Subtle Subtitles" section. It really gives me something to think about for the weekend. At least for shows that I watch.

My favorite thing about TVSquad is the columnists. There is a nice variety of opinions. And while I don't always agree :), I do appreciate what each of you do.
My least favorite thing is the comment approval emails. Isn't it time for registered comments? Plus, who broke the star button? Or are we all just so boring that you can't toss a star or two around. :P
Go Seahawks!

I am mystified by the 'star' system. I can't seem to find an FAQ that explains how these golden rewards are earned - volume? quality? pithiness? - and yet somehow I scored a couple.
I would also like to be able to use a second email address to count toward my user status. (My home email hasn't earned one blasted star!)
Still, I visit several times a day!

I like the stars system; nothing is better than the approval of random bloggers.

I love having a place to go every week where I know there's people to chat about my favorite shows with. Nobody at work watches Scrubs or How I Met Your Mother.

The "Cancel Arrested Development!" letter satire is still my favorite part of the site, especially since so many professed "fans" couldn't see that it was so. It's what drew me here in the first place. Pure brilliance. And unfortunately, very prescient.

I love the day-after reviews; when I watch shows that only I seem to like, and then see other people enjoying them, it's great. And when the snippet of the review that is spoiler-free shows up for something I've tivo'd, I can use it as a tip as to whether I should delete or watch it.

My favorite aspect of TV Squad would have to be the spoilers. I'm such a sucker. I don't want to know and yet, when given the opportunity, I capitulate every time.

My favorite thing about TV Squad is that you guys talk about TV Shows that I care about. I don't have to go to separate sites to find out information or gossip about each show. It's one-stop shopping and I love that. It's like Wal-Mart.
Go Steelers!

I'm a spoilers guy! I love the Lost stuff and all of the West Wing goodness. Sorry to see it go. I also get a kick out of the comments from others, always a good read. This also leads me to my least favorite part, checking for new comments only to find 3 versions of the same comment. What's up with that?

My favorite part of the TV Squad is the way you are passionate about your opinions. I may not always agree with your comments, there is no doubt about what you believe and why.

I think the thing I like most about TVSquad is that you're keeping me in the know with some of my favorite shows like LOST and most Reality TV shows. Love the scoops and podcasts.
I don't get the stars for comments though. But this is one of my favorite sites to have plugged into Bloglines!
