The news service over at Sci Fi channel has an interview with Loni Peristere, visual-effects supervisor
for Serenity, who reveals how to find the easter egg on the DVD. Here's how:- In the main menu, highlight 'Play'
- Press left on your remote
- A marker on the right side of the menu will highlight
- Press enter
[Via Pop Candy]
The easter egg is a short featurette about how Joss Whedon and others came up with the advertisement for the Fruity Oaty Bar, which triggers a violent reaction from River. We actually get to see the entire, very strange, commercial. Beware: the jingle will get stuck in your head!
The interview with Peristere is really more about the hope that he and many others share that DVD sales of the movie will be enough to get a sequel made. After all, it was strong sales of the short-lived series, Firefly, that got the movie on the big screen in the first place.

do they honestly think there will be a sequel made to Serenity? Joss completley CLOSED the story. Everything that made Firefly interesting was summed up and tied up in Serenity.

You think Joss CLOSED the story? Are you kidding? There's way more story left to tell. The aftermath of the news spreading, for one. Also, remember at the end when River said "The storm's getting worse."? She wasn't talking about the rain they were flying through.

But have you actually eaten one of those bars?? Man they are super sweet and so high in calories. The problem is that the commercial is so effective that I can't stop buying them.
And the commercial says it will make me bust out of my blouse.. but I just ain't seein' it!

Completely closed the story? Did we watch the same film? Besides, is it ever so shocking to think that maybe - just MAYBE - Joss can take those same characters and put them in (shock!) new situations and adventures? Hmm.. Imagine something like that. Wow, I just can't.

Re: Sequel,
There's also the wacky idea that Joss could write stories that actually came before Serenity! I for one need more Wash. Great character.
