Yo, I wanna give a shout out to all my
homies who used to rock a Commodore Computer. Can I get a "hells yeah?" While my friends were all pounding
away on their Tandy Computers, I was playing The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy text adventure game on my
C64. At least, I would play up to the point where I had to figure out how to operate the Infinite Improbability Drive,
then I'd always get stuck. Speaking of space exploration, I found this
old Commodore ad, featuring William Shatner, to be quite interesting. Holy cow, it's like an Atari... with a
keyboard! To boldly go where no 80s computer has gone before

He says "The wonder computer of the 1980s," twice in the commercial. As if somehow they knew, far into the future, people would be mocking this commercial, and they really wanted to make sure that everyone got the date right.

That brings back memeories! I worked for Commodore at the time and was tech support on the shoot. Contrary to the bad rap Mr. Shatner has, I found him to be gracious and very easy to work with.
Two memories stand-out for me:
First, I was (and am) a die-hard Trekker. Imagine the anticipation for me as I waited for him to arrive at the studio. Then imagine my shock when he arrived as I was in the men's room, and he walked in as I was just
about to pee. Suffice it to say I just couldn't in the presence of my idol.
Second, at the time we (Commodore) had a game called "Jupiter Lander" that I showed Mr. Shatner how to play. We all had a great laugh as the captain of the Enterprise repeatedly crashed the ship.
Somewhere I still have an autographed VIC-20 manual...

Wow. I loved Jupiter lander almost as much as it frustrated me trying to land in that third crater.
