Two TV chefs in Britain, including Gordon Ramsay of
Hell's Kitchen, got into a bit of trouble recently for showing animals being slaughtered on the air. Well, it
seems they didn't actually show it in gory, graphic detail, but on chef Jamie Oliver's show, Jamie's Great
Escape, he did slit a lamb's throat. On Ramsay's show, a slaughterman was brought in to kill a few turkeys with a
stun gun. Both shows resulted in fifty-seven complaints, but Ofcom maintained that the killing of the animals was done
in a responsible and humane manner.Chefs catch flak for animal killings

Both shows made it quite clear what was going to happen and pointed out before and after that it wasn't going to be exactly pleasant, they were trying to educate people as to exactly where there food comes from. Personally, I applaud them, kids in this country had no clue what various common vegetables were and would even touch proper chicken only pre-formed crap. Good on Oliver and Ramsay.

Have we gotten so sterilized in this country that we cannot show that animals are slaughtered before getting into the food chain?
If we keep shielding ourselves from reality, our kids will end up thinking that pork chops grow on trees before being encased in plastic.
