Apparently, Everybody Hates Chris has a bigger family audience than either Chris
Rock or UPN imagined. The network had to field a
"handful" of complaints after the show's Christmas episode, in which Chris' little sister Tonya is shown
by brother Drew that Santa Claus doesn't exist. The complaints were from parents who had to explain the episode to
their kids, who were also watching. Remember, this is a show that has been gently exploring race issues the entire
season; the "n-word" was even said a few times in the first few episodes. But what gets all the attention?
The episode that says there is no Santa Claus. Even the show's co-creator couldn't escape criticism; Ali LeRoi's
6-year-old son was also upset at the holiday exposé.Everybody Hates Chris Xmas episode causing small backlash

I don't watch this show, but I know there have been a few instances that things have been said about Santa being real. As a parent, if you don't want to have that discussion, you do your best to screen what the kids see this time of year. We had it on our local news, and I couldn't reach the remote in time. My 6 year old didn't ask any questions, so he probably wasn't paying attention or maybe I was just lucky. :)

Or maybe you have successfully retarded your child's ability to think critically.

Seriously UPN! This was a HUGE mistake. Yeah it may seem like a trivial thing in a tv show, but there are indeed a lot of kids like mine that watch the show and this caused me some serious problems following the episode. Let's hope the show doesn't have any more problems like this.
