Quentin has no penis! I wouldn't have guessed that... ever. But apparently Quentin's lack of a johnson
doesn't stop the Carver from bringing home the bacon. Nine females are all face-slashed (and some are raped) at a
sorority house presumably at UMiami. Sean and Christian show up at the request of one of the girl's mothers. Most of
them are speechless, but one has a story to tell. She jumped on the Carver's back while he was raping one of her
friends. He pushed her aside and that's when she saw it. The Carver does have a penis. Of the rubbery, strap-on
variety. Ah Ha! So it could still be Quentin!
Wrong! Soon afterwards, when the cops raid Q's apartment, they make a shocking discovery. Quentin has been attacked too. He's been tied to the four bedposts, slashed, and his blood used to write "I can't stop" on the wall. When he comes in to see Sean and Christian about having them fix his face, they flat out refuse to. Number one, they seem to get attacked when they help a Carver victim and number two? Quentin is a giant asshole who used drugs, dated Julia, and got screwed by a male patient. Making a list like that... yeah, he is kind of a jerk-face.
However, Quentin has a sob story. He was born with a genetic disorder known as Five Alpha Reductase Deficiency, which is just fancy medical talk for "you don't have a penis." All he ever wanted to do was fit in and he looked up to Sean and Christian and truly wanted to be one of them. Now that they have something in common (they've all been carved), he still gets turned away. But the flattery works and Sean agrees to operate the next day. During the surgery, Kit arrests Liz for the Carver murders... apparently there's lots of evidence against her.
On the other side of town, Matt is abducted from school by Ariel and her father. They take him back to their garage where Matt realizes Cherry has been kidnapped too. In an extremely gruesome scene, Ariel's father threatens to shoot Matt if he doesn't cut off Cherry's penis with a box cutter. Matt goes through with it. While this is going on, things heat up elsewhere. Kit still questions Liz, but it's going nowhere. Kit had documentation that Liz had been buying tranquilizers like the Carver uses but Liz says it's a forgery. Overall, it seemed like her case against Liz was pretty weak.
Back at the office, Sean goes to see how Quentin is recovering from the surgery. He checks on his bed, but Quentin isn't in it. Gina is. And she's been slashed. The Carver comes from the other side of the room and injects Sean with the tranq. After Sean falls to the floor, the Carver removes the mask to get some air...
[Biggest SPOILER Ever]
...it's Quentin. He's the Carver. It was the safe bet the whole time, and as much as I may have initially been against it, the story that follows is spectacular. Quentin has both Sean and Christian strapped down in the operating room. It gets pretty ugly. After Quentin traveled down from Atlanta to do a job on Naomi Gaines and McNamara/Troy fixed her up, Q got a little angry. And they kept interfering. Now it was his turn. After some more "I'm just trying to save everyone from themselves" rhetoric, Quentin cuts off one of Sean's fingers and then he forces Christian to cut off one of his hands. But right before Christian does it, a shot rings out and Q falls. Kit stands behind a broken window, gun in hand.
Back to Matt. Ariel's father brought Matt and Cherry out to the woods. Holding Matt at gunpoint still, he forces him to bury Cherry alive. But Matt makes a stand, walks away. Ariel's father can't do it though. He can't shoot him. While Matt has his attention, Cherry stands up, grabs the shovel, and slams it into the guy's head. He falls and Cherry picks up the gun. Matt tells her to shoot him. She does.
At the police station, Kit is packing up and she explains to Sean and Christian everything she found out about Quentin. His parents were an incestuous brother and sister who gave birth to two deformed children: Quentin and his sister Violet. Violet's face was horribly deformed and we already know what was wrong with Quentin. They were raised in a monastery in Maine. Quentin aimed to become a plastic surgeon so he could fix his sister's face. He did just that, but his sister died during one of the surgeries from an adverse reaction to the anesthesia. Quentin blamed all other plastic surgeons and their sale of "beauty" for his sister's death. Wraps it up nice. The doctors thank Kit for saving them and she says they should really be thanking Gina for dialing 911.
They operate on Gina that afternoon and thank her for calling. She had no idea what they were talking about. What?!?! At this point, we see someone unzip Quentin's bodybag and he hops out smiling. News flash, the Carver did not work alone. Sean and Christian travel to the monastery in Maine to get to the bottom of the story. A nun shows them a recent picture of Quentin and Kit, brother and sister. However, by now the two nut-jobs have flown to Spain where they sip sangria and scope for their next victim. To give this a happy ending, Julia and Sean make peace. She's going to move back home and it looks like they'll be back together. Matt came over for dinner but he didn't mention his part in the murder of his ex-girlfriend's father. That's the second murder he's been an accomplice to. Good job Matt!
So, Quentin was the Carver with some help from his sister Kit. I was pleased with the way it turned out... everything made sense and I didn't think it got confusing. The writer's deserve a pat on the back.

You forgot to mention that part when Julia found out that there was something wrong with the baby! It's the only reason that she's moving back in with Sean! Although I'm really not sure how she thinks she's going to hide that...

Something has to be wrong with the baby. The look on her face as she hugged Sean at the end. I guess, all things considered, I can live with not knowing this until next season.

Its funny to assume that the university is UM but in the state of florida there are no sorority houses...just a little tid bit of information fo everyone out there. But the show was amazing and the dream sequence by Julia was shot so amazingly well I thought I had paid seven dollars to watch a movie. Best show ever!

Seriously. What is wrong with the baby? We are meant to see Gina in that conniving manipulative female role, but Julia? Weird.
And it is a little bit bothersome to me that Ariel's father "disappears" and Cherry Peck is maimed and there are no consequences from the police. But it is really interesting that Matt's big time screwups are never murder, just everything short, like the girl they hit with the car...and Sean fixes all of it.

I'm sure we'll see the consequences of Matt's actions next season. They did the same thing after he and his friend hit the girl with the car (delayed consequences).

can anyone clarify whether or not Q and Kit were a couple even though they were brother and sister?

As Kit was explaining Quentin's life story I guessed right away that she is his sister and I haven't even followed the program that much. I must say the writing is excellent.

What if there is more to the connection between Quentin/Kat and Christian. What if Q selected Troy/Mcnamara for another reason? Maybe Quentin/Kat's sexually deviant father is also Christian's rapist father?

Nip/tuck tries to be cool and hip and relevant but just from that convoluted story line of the "Carver" to me it's just your typical blood and gore crap thats deliberately made that way to reel in all the dumb viewers who like to think they're watching something
unique when in reality theyre watching the same old violent tv stuff except it's even more gory because of the channel it's on.

How did Kit's bullet break the glass if Q was wearing blood packs, and she was firing blanks?
Also, a coroner didn't check for a pulse before begging the body? Where Gil Grissom when you need him?

As always, great writeup. I agree with some of the comments that there were some holes in the story but there always will be. I think the writers did a great job of not making the Carver so far-fetched. Quentin was the logical choice all along and they threw in the twist and turn about Kit just to keep things interesting. I also like how they left the story open-ended and you can be that this is not the last time we will hear from Quentin and Kit.
What's up with Matt!! He comes to family dinner like hannibal lecter after a killing...
I've also finished my writeups for the season finale. Feel free to check them out! ;) Happy Holidays!
