Just in time for the unmasking of The Carver on Nip/Tuck, CSI: Miami has expanded
on a "who-could-it-be" mystery of their own. If you missed the special online only clip from about a month
ago, then you were probably caught off guard when Wolfe told Tripp and Natalia that there's a mole in the lab who's
been leaking info to the press. Well there is... and Wolfe got the info from Erica (and even though she's caused him
problems in the past, seemed like she wanted to do the right thing by letting him know about the mole in that online clip). However, the mole wasn't to blame
for the leak in last night's episode.
With all the advances in DNA testing in the past five years, it's become possible to exonerate numerous felons from crimes they didn't commit. That's exactly what happened when Natalia ran some tests on the hairs from a rape case dating back to 1999. It freed Brian Lexington and left the woman he supposedly raped (Valerie Naff) wondering if it wasn't Brian, then who? Wolfe and Calleigh run all the old evidence and it eventually leads them to the realtor who sold Valerie her new home back in '99. After the locksmith gave Valerie three new keys to her house, she ended up with only two. The realtor was the only other person who might have had access to the keys. So he raped her. But as quickly as he became a suspect, just a few hours later he was found dead. This is what prompts Wolfe to inform his co-workers about the mole. But as I said, maybe the mole wasn't to blame for this?
Brian went and got himself a sleazy lawyer. He plans on suing H and the rest of the team for malicious prosecution. His sleazy lawyer hired a sleazy messenger boy to tail Tripp and report any findings. The messenger was around when Tripp was getting a warrant to search the realtor's home. So the messenger told the lawyer, the lawyer told Brian, and Brian told... Valerie. Hey, this guy's been a free man for all these years so you can at least understand why our gal Val might want a little revenge. So she killed him, case closed. But for whatever reason, Horatio feels bad for her and promises to see her through the trial.
The main case was really only good for the fact that it gave Wolfe a reason to let the rest of the team know what he knows... the mole is out of the bag so to speak. Which means the mole knows, so it'll be good to see how that plays out. The secondary case was actually pretty good because it was one of them few times we got see Alexx tackle a case on her own. After she finds a surgical rag in a dead woman's body, she determines that toxic shock as a result of the rag caused her death. She has Delko take a look into the surgeon and he recovers some trace minerals and vitamins from a juice glass the doc was using. Alexx knows exactly what those vitamins are used for: to mask the use of ecstasy. She confronts the doctor and he admits that he's developing Parkinson's Disease. The ecstasy helps calm his tremors so he can operate. Of all people, a doctor should know better but it was great to see Alexx get so involved.
So there really is only one question to ask: any idea who the mole is? Right now I'm leaning towards Delko (remember Erica said it was someone well liked and respected... so that gets rid of IAD Det. Stetler). We know Delko is having trouble with his sister's cancer, so maybe he's figured out a new way to raise some extra cash?

It could be the other DNA expert, Valera. She's got a reason for supplying information - it might be a condition of getting her job back.
